Billie Eilish wins best song Oscar for What Was I Made For? from Barbie

The renowned musician, Billie Eilish, alongside her sibling Finneas O’Connell, has emerged victorious at the prestigious Oscar awards. The duo clinched the top spot in the best song category by their collaborative composition, What Was I Made For?, which they crafted for the soundtrack of the famous Barbie movie.

Eilish and O'Connell had to conquer a group of competitors that had a different melody from the Barbie movie called "I'm Just Ken." This was created by two well-known composers, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. It was sung by a popular actor, Ryan Gosling. Aside from that, they also had to face other strong rivals such as Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People) which was featured in Killers of the Flower Moon and It Never Went Away that was used in the American Symphony documentary.

"What Was I Made For?" was a chart-topping success in the UK and Australia, and made it to the 14th spot in the US. The song appears in the movie where Margot Robbie plays Barbie, and she meets the ghost of Ruth Handler (played by Rhea Perlman), the creator of Barbie. The song won the coveted awards of best song of the year and best song written for visual media at the Grammy Awards in February.

Eilish expressed her immense gratitude and privilege while dedicating the award to everyone who was impacted by the movie and its remarkable contribution.

Additionally, she expressed gratitude towards her closest companion, Zoe, for engaging in Barbies playtime with her. Furthermore, she acknowledged two music instructors, including one who may not have had a fondness for her, but nevertheless performed their job proficiently.
