WWE WrestleMania 40: Predictions for Night 1, card, start time, matches, 2024 PPV preview, location, date

WrestleMania 40

The grandest wrestling occasion of the year has arrived. WWE has arrived in Philadelphia for its yearly extravaganza and it is a colossal one. WrestleMania is here and to mark its 40th anniversary, the organization has jam-packed the two-night bonanza with a profusion of amusement. The festivities kick off on Saturday night with seven bouts that are set to happen.

On the first night of WrestleMania, there is no bigger match than that of The Rock and Roman Reigns battling against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. In case Rock and Reigns conquer the match held at the end of the event, Reigns will have to protect his undisputed WWE universal championship against Rhodes in the primary fight of the second night while adhering to "Bloodline rules." This implies that even if several members of Reigns' family offer their backing, there will be no disqualification.

It's certain that Night 1 will have plenty of excitement. Legendary veteran Becky Lynch will challenge Women's world champion Rhea Ripley to defend her crown. There's also a distinctive match for the undisputed tag team titles, where The Judgement Day members Damian Priest and Finn Balor will put both titles at risk against six different teams. Furthermore, intercontinental champion Gunther will go head-to-head with his latest contender Sami Zayn. Lastly, there's a special showdown between siblings as Jey Uso takes on Jimmy Uso.

The group of professionals at CBS Sports gathered to make guesses for every fight that will happen. Now, we can read their thoughts about how each match on Night 1 will end. We'll have to wait until Friday to see their expectations for Night 2.

Predicting WrestleMania 40 Night 1

The upcoming match in the Women's World Championship is going to be between Rhea Ripley, who is the current champion, and Becky Lynch.

Ripley has been a champion for some time but her reign hasn't been very memorable, which may make some people think Lynch should win instead. However, this thought process is a mistake. Professional wrestling is all about making stars and Ripley, who is 27 years old, is the long-term investment. Lynch is already established and has a loyal fan base. Ripley proved herself when she had an amazing match against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 39 and defeating another member of the Four Horsewomen would only strengthen her position as champ. In my opinion, Ripley will retain her title.

The six-pack ladder match will feature The Judgment Day, #DIY, The Awesome Truth, The New Day, A-Town Down Under, and New Catch Republic competing for the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. It's going to be a fierce battle as each team tries to claim the title. The winning team will be considered the undisputed champions.

The WWE might divide the tag team titles, and a new rule has been added to the six-pack ladder match. This means that the match will continue until both sets of titles are obtained, giving two teams the chance to win gold. On SmackDown, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate are having a successful streak, and Triple H's longstanding favorites, #DIY, could benefit from a reign to establish them. Damian Priest needs to focus on his time with the Money in the Bank briefcase now that it's coming to an end. Another unexpected tag team could also enter the competition. My prediction is that both #DIY and New Catch Republic will win.

The rules for the ladder match make it clear that WWE is going to divide the Raw and SmackDown tag team titles once again. This means that there will be two winning teams. In my opinion, The Awesome Truth will take the Raw titles, not only for the nostalgia factor, but to set up a funny moment where Truth thinks the match is over and leaves with the red belt. It's not clear who will win the other set of titles, so I suggest giving The New Day another chance to win. My prediction: Both Awesome Truth and The New Day will be victorious.

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi will be facing Damage CTRL in an anticipated match. The audience is excited to see these talented wrestlers in action against the formidable team of Damage CTRL. It promises to be a thrilling matchup full of impressive performances and moves. We can't wait to see who comes out victorious in this exciting showdown.

Cargill has an innate ability to captivate and charm the audience, but her in-ring performance requires careful handling. WWE made a smart move by granting her a spot at WrestleMania and teaming her up with seasoned wrestlers. The villainous Damage CTRL badly needs to be defeated, and the heroes will definitely reap the benefits of a victory. This match is a no-brainer when it comes to predicting the winner. My pick is for Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi to emerge victorious.

The battle between Latino World Order, consisting of Dragon Lee and Rey Mysterio, and Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio was intense.

The Rey vs. Dominik Mysterio showdown at WrestleMania 39 was a pleasant surprise for fans. Although it seems like a great chance for Dragon Lee to make a name for himself, I have a feeling that Rey wants to give his son a boost before he hangs up his boots. Thus, my prediction is that Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio will come out on top, which is shared by Casey as well as Brookhouse and Mahjouri.

The Intercontinental Championship is up for grabs as Gunther defends his title against Sami Zayn.

Gunther has been the champion for a while now, but it seems like his reign could come to an end soon. However, I don't think Zayn is the one who can take the title from him tonight. The focus of the intercontinental title picture is still on Chad Gable's quest for a rematch against Gunther. Even if Zayn manages to beat Gunther with Gable's coaching, it would make Gable's talk about needing that shot for so long meaningless. I believe Gunther will win in an amazing match. Therefore, I predict that Gunther will retain the title.

Initially, I was hesitant about seeing Zayn and Gunther together again after what occurred in 2023. However, WWE did a great job of convincing me otherwise with the recent Raw segments featuring Zayn and Chad Gable. I have no doubt that the match will be exceptional, considering Gunther's track record. As soon as they began referencing "Rocky III," Zayn's position as the underdog who will finally end Gunther's unbeatable record seemed more plausible. I have a sneaking suspicion that Cody Rhodes versus Gunther may take the spotlight at SummerSlam, but for that to occur, Gunther needs to relinquish his title. Prediction: Sami Zayn will prevail and become champion.

This is a blog post about a wrestling match between two individuals called Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso. The two are related, presumably brothers. They faced each other in the ring, competing against one another. The specifics of the match are not mentioned in this blog post.

It would be logical for Jey to avenge his loss to his brother that happened at SummerSlam. However, to ensure The Bloodline has a good chance of winning during Night 2's main event, it's essential that they have a strong momentum. This can be achieved by having Jimmy emerge victorious in this match. So, my pick is that Jimmy Uso will win.

I really like the thought of The Bloodline emerging victorious in every match on Night 1, but I can't seem to ignore the possibility of Jey winning instead. It could be due to Solo Sikoa disturbing the game and getting Jey disqualified, or managing to secure a narrow victory before getting thrashed by Sikoa and Jimmy later on. The ultimate objective is to have Jey incapacitated and unable to assist Rhodes and Rollins for the main event. Therefore, my prediction is that Jey Uso will come out on top.

In this wrestling match, we saw The Rock and Roman Reigns take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins.

As we got closer to the highly anticipated event, my initial prediction changed. It seemed like The Rock was setting up a plan to prevent Reigns from winning intentionally or not. This allowed Rhodes to have a fair chance on Night 2, as opposed to Rollins, who was more deserving of a victory before losing the world title. However, there are rumors that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and John Cena might intervene on Night 2 in a superhero-like rescue mission. Due to this unforeseen development, I am now reconsidering my prediction. For night one, I believe that The Bloodline will win, adding more excitement to Rhodes' potential rise the following night. Therefore, my pick is for The Bloodline to emerge victorious.

The "Bloodline Rules" stipulation is not something to be taken lightly and ignored. It is highly anticipated that Roman Reigns and The Rock will emerge victorious, putting Rhodes in an even more disadvantageous position. Watch out for meddling from Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman - all of whom will make it seem as though Rhodes is heading towards a merciless defeat on Night 2. Prediction: The Bloodline will triumph.

In simple wrestling terms, booking a match like Rodes vs. Reigns means making it harder for the good guy (babyface) to win. In the case of Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso, I predict that Jey won't be able to help his team. This gives Rhodes and Rollins a significant disadvantage as other wrestlers like Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso, Paul Heyman, and even Drew McIntyre could interfere and help The Bloodline win. This would establish "Bloodline Rules" for Night 2. My prediction is that The Bloodline will win.
