Bayern Munich close to deal for Vincent Kompany to take over as manager

The long process of finding a new manager for Bayern Munich is almost over, as the team is reportedly planning to appoint Vincent Kompany of Burnley to fill the role.

Bayern have been struggling to find a new coach to take the place of Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel left the club after failing to win any trophies at the end of the season. Although his departure was planned in February, Bayern were still hoping he would change his mind. They were so eager to keep him that they even tried to convince him to stay, despite his decision to leave.

Bayern had to reconsider their strategy after Tuchel decided to adhere to the initial plan, and they set their sights on Kompany as their target. It came as a surprise to many that the Belgian defender was being considered, particularly because of his involvement in Burnley's relegation from the Premier League.

The negotiations are proceeding well and apparently, Alan Pace, the owner of Burnley, met with representatives from Bayern on Wednesday to discuss financial compensation. The goal is to finalize the agreement before the week is out.

After starting his coaching journey with Anderlecht, Kompany made a name for himself when he joined Burnley a couple of years ago. The ex-Manchester City player made a bold move by revamping a team that primarily focused on defense and turned them into an enthralling attacking squad. He earned immense praise for this transformation and quickly led Burnley back into the Premier League after their initial relegation.

Burnley had high aspirations of achieving success with their forward-thinking tactics in the top tier of football. However, their recruitment efforts left much to be desired, and they ended up ranking 19th with a mere 24 points. By promptly allowing Kompany to leave, Burnley can take their time finding a suitable replacement as they prepare for yet another promotion campaign.

Many are surprised that Kompany has been given such a significant role, causing some to raise their eyebrows. However, there is a belief that his methods could be effective when working with a high-level team. Having played for Hamburg during his successful career, Kompany has experience living in Germany. Although Chelsea has expressed interest in him, he is not a candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino this season.

After leaving Chelsea, Pochettino might have caught the attention of Bayern. However, Bayern were turned down by Xabi Alonso and Ralf Rangnick. As for Erik ten Hag, Roberto De Zerbi, and Hansi Flick, Bayern didn't bother chasing them.
