Former Scotland captain Stuart Hogg accused of stalking wife

Stuart Hogg, who used to be the captain of Scotland’s rugby team, has recently made an appearance in court where he faces allegations of committing stalking offenses against his wife, Gillian.

The individual who is 31 years old and formerly played for his country on 100 different occasions, while also being the record-holder for the most tries scored in Scotland's history, denied three accusations during his appearance at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Hogg received an accusation of stalking due to his behavior that caused his spouse Gillian to feel scared and distressed at different locations in Glasgow and Hawick, Roxburghshire. This conduct occurred from January 2017 to March 2019.

They say he yelled and cursed at her while being aggressive, accused her of cheating multiple times, followed her around several times, checked her conversations with other people, and made several attempts to dictate the family's way of living.

The second accusation according to the Domestic Abuse Scotland Act implies comparable behavior that occurred from April 2019 to March of the current year in places located in Hawick and Devon.

The blog includes a new claim suggesting that he frequently sent distressing and alarming messages to Gillian, in which he threatened to harm himself.

Hogg has been charged with a third offense that claims he was granted a release with the condition of not approaching his wife, unless it was for arranging child contact. However, it is said that on March 30th of this year, he contacted her at her home near Hawick.

During the short hearing that lasted for five minutes, Hogg simply affirmed his name and a trial date of July 30th was established.

He was granted bail, but there were conditions attached. He was not allowed to have any communication with his former partner and he was also required to stay away from her residence in Hawick.

Hogg exited the courthouse via an alternate exit in order to evade the photographers that were present, following his denial of all accusations brought against him and the reception of his bail documentation.

John and Margaret Hogg escorted their son away, and he settled in the rear seat, cloaking himself with a coat.

Hogg suddenly quit playing rugby union just before the World Cup last year. He had a successful career and was part of three British and Irish Lions tours.

He ended his marriage with Gillian, who he tied the knot with at Barony Castle in Peeblesshire back in 2016. This happened last year when she was expecting their fourth child.

Hogg has commenced a fresh, romantic bond with Leonna Mayor, an individual who works as a host for horse races and has been dubbed as the most attractive jockey in the world.

In the 2024 New Year Honours List, he received an MBE for his contributions to rugby union.

Hogg Resets With Rehab Post-arrest

Hogg shared with his 182,000 supporters on Instagram last week that he had undergone a "reset" at a rehab center following his arrest in February.

He was arrested after an altercation at his separated wife's house the day after Scotland's win against England in the Calcutta Cup.

On his social media account, he posted a message saying that he was feeling lost and needed some assistance, guidance, and a break from the public attention. He required a peaceful moment to reflect and gather his thoughts.

I used to spend a lot of time worrying about the opinions of others, my image, the influence I'd have on them, and how I'd get through the day. I was constantly lost in my own thoughts, and it wasn't good for me.

Being at a centre for recovery, gave me the chance to start over, discover my true self and express my emotions without any criticism.

"It was a challenging decision, but ultimately, it was necessary. Owning up to my actions was the initial stride towards progress. I acknowledge my errors and comprehend the reasoning behind my choices."
