Reading FC boss Paul Ince says Jeff Hendrick feels like he is part of the club despite only being a loan player.

The manager's comments came following the midfielder's outstanding volley which helped the side secure a point against Watford in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle United loanee Hendrick blasted home unmarked after he was picked out by Tom Ince at a corner to secure a 2-2 draw against the Hornets at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The Republic of Ireland international, who turned 31 last Tuesday, now has four strikes to his name this season and is the only player to have started all 29 of Royals' league fixtures.

Hendrick tends to divide opinion among Reading supporters who often debate how much of an impact he has on games but Ince has nothing but praise for the former Burnley and Derby County player who he says has properly integrated himself on and off the field at Reading.

"The second goal was a wonder goal from Jeff," said Ince after the Watford game. "He’s a wonderful player and a proper professional. And for someone who is on loan from Newcastle – he feels like he is part of us.

"A lot of loanees will know they are going back in three months’ time and not want to be part of it. But he wants to be part of the club. And I’m so pleased he has started adding goals to his performances."

Tom Ince scored Reading's other goal from the penalty spot as the home side fought back from conceding goals to Ismaila Sarr and Ryan Porteous.
