The two of them appeared together for the first time in public as a couple during the red carpet event for Gooch Jr.'s film Ur In Analysis in West Hollywood in July 2015.
After the movie showing, the comic and the performer traveled to Ibiza. Wilson uploaded a sequence of pictures featuring her and Gooch Jr.

Wilson divulged details about her romantic involvement with Gooch Jr. in her book, Rebel Rising, that came out in 2024. It was disclosed that she had consensual sexual intercourse with Gooch when she was 35 years old, marking the end of her celibacy.
"Hey Micks, it might come as a surprise to you if you're reading this, but I did in fact have my first sexual experience with you," she wrote.
Wilson told The New York Times in April 2024 that Gooch Jr. was the very first person to read her book, so he is now aware of it.
