Dubai experienced an enormous flash flooding due to an entire year's worth of rainfall on Tuesday. This resulted in roads being filled with water, making them look like rivers and many homes and businesses got flooded.

An alarming clip depicted the runway of Dubai International Airport as it got submerged in water, with enormous airplanes struggling to make their way through the inundation. These huge jets appeared to be navigating through water like boats, causing water to splash everywhere they travelled and creating waves that moved through the deep water. All of this happened just after the airport became recognized as the world's second-busiest one.

On Tuesday, the airport stopped running for approximately thirty minutes. The airport confirmed that there were considerable interruptions in their services due to heavy flooding on the roads leading to Dubai airport. The airport issued an advisory to alert passengers about the situation.

On Tuesday, within a time frame of only 12 hours, the airport recorded a rainfall of almost 4 inches, which is equivalent to the amount of rainfall that Dubai would normally receive throughout an entire year, as per the data from the United Nations.

The downpour was so severe and sudden that a few vehicle drivers had to leave their cars behind due to the overflowing floodwater, leading to roads resembling streams.

A video shared on social media displayed how water was vigorously flowing through a mall vicinity and submerging the first floor of residential properties.

In Dubai, similar to the other parts of the United Arab Emirates, the weather is hot and dry, making rainfall a scarce occurrence. Due to this, the city's infrastructure is not equipped to manage severe weather conditions.

On Tuesday, the rainfall was extremely heavy.

Heavy rainfalls like this will occur more often because of the climate change caused by humans. As the air heats up more and more, it can absorb extra humidity like a towel, and then release it in the form of stronger and more intense episodes of flooding.

Dubai was hit by heavy rain, causing the city to be flooded. This rain was caused by a major storm that is moving through the Arabian Peninsula and going across the Gulf of Oman. This same storm is also causing abnormally rainy weather in Oman and the southeast of Iran.

On Tuesday night, the amount of rainfall in the area will slowly decrease, although there may be a small number of showers remaining on Wednesday, before the weather becomes dry once again.
