Two Newcastle based indies receive discretionary awards from Channel 4 - North East Screen

The members can attend networking events, participate in development workshops, and receive financial support to enhance their program ideas through 4Producers. Moreover, they can get frequent assistance from the Head of Indie Relations, Rebecca Thompson.

While declaring the winners of the awards, Rebecca Thompson, who is the Head of Indie Relations at Channel 4, stated that it's a tough time for independent companies, especially the smaller ones operating in the various regions of the country. She expressed her joy in being able to assist such companies to become stronger and provide guidance to shape their concepts. This will enable them to have a better chance of securing commissions.

Additionally, some discretionary awards were granted to Blair Black from Belfast, Catman Media Ltd based in Belfast, Lunar Lander located in Sheffield, and Rock Films situated in Birmingham.

Introduced last year, the Emerging Indie Fund was created with the goal of cultivating promising indie developers, expanding their connections, and assisting them in reaching the next stage of their growth. The fund concentrates on backing indies located in the Nations and Regions.

A new partnership has emerged to establish a "Northern Creative Corridor." This grand coalition will work towards bringing together creative talent and resources in order to create a thriving creative ecosystem in the north. This collaborative effort will undoubtedly result in increased opportunities for artistic expression and innovation across the region. The Northern Creative Corridor seeks to foster an environment that enables creative professionals to flourish and thrive. This joint initiative is definitely something to keep an eye on.
