Hathaway took on the role of a pilot who becomes pregnant in the solo production Grounded, which had a six-week run in 2015. During her performance, she had to portray the experience of labor and delivery on a nightly basis.

During this period, Hathaway went through a miscarriage.

Anne Hathaway, known for her role in the film The Devil Wears Prada, gave birth to her first child, a son named Jonathan, in March 2016 with her spouse, Adam Shulman.

Hathaway shared on Instagram in July 2019 that she was expecting another child. However, she also used the opportunity to express her challenges with getting pregnant.

She shared an image of her pregnant belly and clarified that it was not for any film. She also stated that she understands the struggles of infertility and conception difficulties, and that her own journey to becoming pregnant was not an easy one. She sends love and support to those experiencing similar issues.

During the interview, Hathaway shared her motives behind composing that particular article.

She expressed that due to the difficult journey she encountered when attempting to conceive, it would not have been truthful to share a post solely focused on joy and positivity, as she recognizes that the reality of the experience is much more complex and varied for others.

She said she wouldn't feel embarrassed about something that appeared to be common according to statistics.

Following her miscarriage, Hathaway expressed her surprise upon learning about the prevalence of miscarriages. In addition, she discovered that several of her acquaintances had undergone comparable situations.

I was pondering, where can we obtain this information? Why do we feel the need to be alone without any valid reason? This is where we harm ourselves. Therefore, I made a firm choice to address this issue.

According to her, after she shared her post on Instagram, women frequently approached her sobbing for years.

"I would simply embrace her, as she was burdened with this [anguish], but suddenly it became shared and not solely hers."

In November 2019, the pair welcomed their second child, a son named Jack.

She said that when she experienced success, she realized that she was once in a situation where she had to be happy for someone else. She wanted her sisters to know that they don't always have to pretend to be happy for others and can just be themselves.

"I understand where you're coming from because I've been in your shoes."
