My lovely audience and fans, I have been eager to provide you with a health update for a while now. I had to wait until I felt strong enough to do it. This message was penned by a 54-year-old person on the 18th of April.

Kinsella, who gained fame for her Shopaholic series, recently posted a message on her social media platforms revealing her diagnosis. According to her post, she received the news of having glioblastoma, a severe type of brain cancer, towards the end of 2022. She chose not to disclose the information at that time to protect her children's privacy and give them time to come to terms with the "new normal" of their lives.

Kinsella, also known as Madeleine Sophie Wickham, disclosed that she has been receiving top-notch medical attention at University College Hospital located in London. She shared that she has gone through triumphant surgical procedures along with follow-up radiotherapy and chemotherapy, which are still in progress.

The writer informed her book audience that she is in a steady condition and feels fine overall, but mentioned that she experiences a lot of fatigue and her memory is deteriorating even more than it was in the past.

Kinsella expressed her gratitude to her family and close acquaintances who have provided her with remarkable support. She also thanked the remarkable medical professionals who have taken care of her.

She expressed her gratitude to her readers for their continuous support and appreciation, specifically mentioning the positive reception of her latest work, The Burnout. The encouraging response has been a source of great motivation for her during a challenging period, she shared.

Kinsella ended her statement by expressing her love and well wishes to those going through cancer in any way. She also extended her appreciation to those providing support to them. Facing a difficult diagnosis can be an isolating and frightening experience. The care and encouragement from loved ones hold immeasurable value.

She informed her followers that she would "contact them shortly".

Initially, Kinsella decided to publish her early books under her actual name. However, later on, she picked a pen name using a combination of her middle name and her mother's maiden name.

The writer gained popularity for the set of books titled Shopaholic, which narrates the story of a financial reporter who face difficulties in handling her own financial matters. The initial two books were modified into a movie in 2009 featuring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy.

Kinsella has written several other books such as Can You Keep a Secret? from 2003, Remember Me? released in 2008, and The Party Crasher, which came out in 2021.
