The bass player of Spandau Ballet, who is 62 years old, was found to have two brain tumors in the nineties. He needed to receive radiotherapy and surgery to remove them.

After the non-cancerous growths were effectively taken out and did not come back, Martin continued to struggle with epilepsy as a result.

During the premiere of their podcast FFS! My Dad Is Martin Kemp, Martin and his son Roman broached the topic of death in an honest and forthright manner. The episode was fittingly called Death, Martin and Roman. The 31-year-old co-hosted the show alongside his father.

Roman once asked Martin about his remaining life span. To this, Martin responded truthfully by saying that he estimates to live for another decade.

I believe that all the days, years, and months that have passed since then, as well as every experience I've gone through, has been an added benefit.

I had come to accept that I would pass away, but I was content because I had enjoyed some amazing adventures.

Martin emphasized that when he was 34 years old and believed that he was going to succumb to death, he spent two whole years pondering about it. Astonishingly, he felt content and at peace with the idea. He mused, "If I do pass away, what a wonderful life I had." This was during his younger years. Hence, each year and month he continues to live is a treasured gift.

He informed his son that reaching the age of 80 would bring him joy and satisfaction, granting him 18 additional years to live.

The celebrity shared that while he was still recovering from the effects of his injury and his mind was not functioning well, he was offered the part of Steve Owen by EastEnders.

During the recording of the Dish podcast in 2022, Martin reminisced, "Those in my circle were vehemently advising against it. They cautioned me that it would shatter my career and urged me not to proceed."

"So, the reason was that the show had never featured any well-known actors before, isn't it? Everyone had been accustomed to watching EastEnders. Therefore, I was the initial name actor to join the cast."

Martin expressed his uncertainty by stating that his thought process was still impaired due to the surgery. At times, he found himself making errors such as walking in the opposite direction of where he intended to go. Additionally, he struggled with organizing tasks and thoughts.

After undergoing treatment for a span of six months, indications of its demise started to emerge and presently it has been completely wiped out.
