Mark Goodier is returning to BBC Radio 2 to take over as the host of Pick of the Pops after the sad loss of Steve Wright.

Mark's most recent gig was on Greatest Hits Radio, but over a year ago, Ken Bruce took over the mid-morning show after moving from his position at Radio 2.

The program called Pick of the Pops, created by 7digital, will keep going with the tradition of presenting two charts from different weeks of the last 70 years. You can tune in every Saturday at 1pm and listen to the countdown.

Mark, who is known for having great taste in music, expresses his gratitude for having the privilege of hosting the legendary Pick of the Pops. However, he wishes that the occasion was less somber since he and Steve have been close friends for almost four decades. He eagerly looks forward to going down memory lane with Radio 2 listeners by playing some of the best tracks ever produced during a two-year period.

Helen Thomas, the leader of Radio 2, expressed her excitement about Mark's return to the station. She believes that Mark is an incredible broadcaster who has a particular interest in chart countdowns, making him the perfect fit for the prestigious Pick of the Pops slot. Helen is thrilled to have Mark complete their new weekend presenting line-up after the unfortunate loss of their friend and colleague, Steve.

I want to express my gratitude to Gary Davies for his work on Pick of the Pops during the recent weeks. He also did an excellent job with his Sounds of the 80s program, which is a must-listen show on Saturday nights.

In the beginning of this month, the news came out that Michael Ball will be presenting a new show called Love Songs with Michael Ball from June. Currently, he presents on Sundays from 11am to 1pm, but will now move to the earlier time slot of 9am to 11am. Meanwhile, Paddy McGuinness will be taking over the 11am to 1pm time slot with a brand new Sunday show.
