Colleagues taking on Manchester Marathon in aid of North East Wales Mind

Manchester Marathon

Created On: Sunday, April 14th, 2024

A group of nine workers from a company located in north east Wales are actively participating in the Manchester Marathon happening this upcoming weekend (April 14) with the aim of gathering donations that will contribute to a charity benefiting mental health.

The employees working at the P&A Group situated in Mold have decided to engage in a fundraising activity for North East Wales Mind, which happens to be their selected charity for the current year. The staff members will be running to raise funds for this cause.

The group aims to aid individuals in Wrexham and Flintshire who are struggling with mental health issues and enable them to maintain emotional well-being.

Apart from providing emotional support through phone counselling, the organization also provides various online services and programs. They are available on weekdays, from 10am to 4pm, to answer phone calls.

The Manchester Marathon squad comprises Hazel Bainbridge, Andrew Baker, Iwan Gwyn, Ben Morgan, Richard Shaw, and Reza Yaghoubi. Furthermore, one of Zest's Polish collaborators will be participating in the competition, represented by Pawel Czapiewski, Krzysztof Narloch, and Jan Wardyn.

The head of P&A Group, Steve Morgan, expressed his excitement about the team's keen involvement in the upcoming Manchester Marathon.

This statement shows our strong dedication to promoting the understanding of mental health problems and helping North East Wales Mind as our selected charity for this year.

Andrew Baker, a seasoned marathon runner who also happens to be the Director of Finance at P&A Group, shared his thoughts on the matter: "Running a marathon requires immense physical and mental resilience, but our objective is bigger than that. Our aim is to create an atmosphere of encouragement, empathy, and shared values."

We strongly believe that spending quality time with people, involving ourselves in nature's beauty, and participating in physical exercises are not only recreational activities but necessary weapons to fight mental health problems.

According to Hazel Bainbridge, HR Director of P&A Group, participating in a marathon for the first time will be challenging. Nonetheless, it pales in comparison to the everyday strife of coping with mental distress.

To break the taboo and hush around the topic of mental health, we must take greater action and encourage open discussions. Supporting North East Wales Mind's efforts is a worthy endeavor in achieving this goal.

Our goal is to create a sense of optimism throughout the entire 26.2 mile journey, encouraging people to focus on their mental health and appreciate how being active and social can positively impact their lives.

The manager of Iwan Gwyn Woodworks Garden Centre, which is a part of the P&A Group, expressed his excitement for the upcoming event. He emphasized that they are eager to contribute as much as possible to support North East Wales Mind.

Living in a society that values mental health highly, it is important to unite and emphasize the significance of aiding each other in our mental wellness journeys.

This is why we are putting on our running shoes and getting ready to run on the streets to bring about change.

Completing the Manchester Marathon will require hard work, but we have a strong sense of camaraderie and I am confident that we will encourage each other to complete the race together.
