Man with sword arrested after attack in Hainault, north-east London

According to authorities, the police apprehended a male armed with a blade after assaulting civilians and law enforcement officials in Hainault, located in the north-east of London.

The Metropolitan police issued a statement reporting that they are currently present in Hainault, situated in the eastern part of London, due to a critical occurrence. A male wielding a sword was arrested by the police and other emergency services.

At around 7am, we got a call regarding a car crashing into a house in the Thurlow Gardens region. There were also claims of individuals being injured with a sharp weapon.

Currently, we know that the perpetrator proceeded to harm other people in addition to two police officers. The extent of the injuries sustained by the victims is uncertain. The police have apprehended a 36-year-old suspect, who is currently being detained.

According to the Transport for London website, the Hainault tube station has been shut down because police are currently investigating the surrounding region.

On a social media platform called X, Streeting posted: "Hainault has been deemed a critical incident. The stations and roads have been shut. The police, ambulance, and fire department are answering to the situation. They have taken in one male."
