Jose Mourinho assumed control of Roma after leaving Tottenham.

Roma has parted ways with Jose Mourinho, who was serving as their manager, as they're currently placed ninth in the Serie A rankings.

At the age of 60, the Portuguese individual assumed the top position in May of 2021. Under their leadership, Roma were victorious in securing the Europa Conference League championship in the following year, and went on to reach the Europa League finals in 2023.

However, they currently sit behind by five points in the race for the final qualifying spot for the Champions League in the Serie A standings. Additionally, they recently suffered elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of their local rivals, Lazio.

Dan and Ryan Friedkin, the owners, expressed their gratitude to Mourinho for his dedication and passion while serving in the position of the boss.

They stated in a message that although they have wonderful memories of his leadership, they believe swift modifications are needed for the benefit of the club.

After the loss of Lazio, Mourinho got another red card and drew a parallel between himself and Harry Potter, stating that his reputation was creating higher hopes for what Roma could accomplish.

After losing their match, Roma's next league game was against AC Milan last Sunday. That game ended 3-1 in Milan's favor. As a result, Roma found themselves trailing Fiorentina, who were in fourth place by five points. Due to this unfortunate outcome, the coach was fired.

Roma's triumph in the 2022 Conference League resulted in a significant European win and boosted the backing for Mourinho among the fans of the team.

However, following their defeat to Sevilla on penalties in the Europa League final of the previous season, the Italian team faced a weak start to the current campaign with only five points from their initial six Serie A matches.

The ex-coach of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Tottenham revealed that he rejected an incredibly outlandish offer to leave Roma last summer, given their current position of 16th place.

Mourinho's employment agreement was set to come to an end when the present season concluded.
