Jody Cundy says he no longer fears he will need to pull out of Strictly

Paralympian Jody Cundy expressed that his worries about having to withdraw from Strictly Come Dancing after going to the hospital during movie week, are no longer present.

During his training for the BBC One show, the athlete fell ill due to an infection on his leg. He claimed that it was caused by excessive sweating which accumulated between his prosthetic limb and skin. He had to visit the hospital for treatment while practicing the Viennese waltz.

Following his appearance on October 7th, Cundy attained an all-encompassing score of 20, ranking last among the judges and placing at the bottom of the leaderboard. He performed alongside his dance partner Jowita Przystal, who won the Glitterball Trophy during the 2022 season with wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin.

When asked if he is concerned that he may have to leave the show due to his ongoing leg issues, Cundy responded that during the times when he was unable to use his leg, there was concern about how he would be able to perform and what would happen next.

Fortunately, I was able to reattach my leg on the morning of Friday the 6th of October. As a result, all the worries I had before have disappeared. Therefore, I can now focus on putting in the hard work and improving my dancing skills.

Talking about the current state of his leg, he stated: "It's fine actually. I am walking on both feet again, which is definitely a good thing. I've been able to walk on both feet throughout the entire week. We just need to ensure that we give my leg some extra care and attention now".

I believe that continuous training for three weeks in a row has caused harm to my body. This was due to the fact that I was wearing my leg differently than I ever have before.

The temperature is increasing and I am perspiring profusely, remaining damp throughout the day. The lining of the material is made of silicone and therefore does not allow for proper ventilation. Consequently, after spending seven hours practicing, the sweat remains stagnant and does not evaporate.

At the moment, we are taking breaks. During this time, we are tidying up and ensuring everything is in good condition. Our focus is to prevent any future issues by creating a safe and suitable environment.

On Saturday, even though he was resolute, he and his partner achieved the lowest position on the scoreboard once more. Their salsa dance was filled with vibrant moves, such as lifts and flips, that brought about a lot of excitement.

Cundy marked his 45th birthday on Saturday and achieved 19 points in his performance of Bellini's Samba de Janeiro dance.

According to Judge Craig Revel Horwood, the performance was not very smooth, but he praised the athlete for his lifting techniques.

Motsi Mabuse observed that Pryztal began his performance on a high note by tearing his shirt open, however, he gradually became less bold and more timid. Motsi then urged Pryztal to exude more self-assurance and come out of his shell.

Talking about the upcoming results show on Sunday, he expressed that he did not want to leave this weekend. He added that he has enjoyed the experience so far and has become comfortable with it.

I think I have only begun to understand dancing. After trying a few dances, I have begun to understand it. But the thought that I might not be able to attend next week is discouraging.

The television show called Strictly Come Dancing: The Results will be broadcasted on BBC One at 7.15pm on Sunday. The program Strictly Come Dancing will come back on BBC One and BBC iPlayer next Saturday.
