Ronnie O'Sullivan, a winner seven times, and Judd Trump both experienced surprising losses during the quarter-finals of the World Championship.

O'Sullivan lost 13-10 to Stuart Bingham, and Jak Jones beat world number two, Trump, 13-9.

Meanwhile, David Gilbert progressed through to the semi-finals by defeating Stephen Maguire 13-8 on the opposite side of the tournament bracket.

He is set to face off against Kyren Wilson, a fellow English player, in the upcoming match. Wilson achieved his spot in the match by defeating John Higgins, a four-time winner from Scotland, with a score of 13-8.

Before the tournament, it was predicted that Trump and O'Sullivan would be the ones favored to win at the Crucible Theatre.

The outcome of the draw has created the possibility of an exciting semi-final match between the two players. O'Sullivan is hoping to break the record for the most wins in the modern era by securing his eighth world title, having already equaled Stephen Hendry's record of seven in 2022.

The accomplishments of Bingham, Gilbert, and Jones have led to a historical moment in which three qualifiers have made it to the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in over four decades since 1977.

Bingham Outplays Frustrated O'Sullivan

The World Snooker Championship was a game that surprised many as Stuart Bingham defeated the highly favored Ronnie O'Sullivan, who had won the championship seven times before. This unexpected result has caused a lot of excitement amongst snooker fans who were stunned at the amazing performance put up by Bingham. The game has become a hot topic amongst sports enthusiasts who have been discussing the outcome and the future of both Bingham and O'Sullivan in the game of snooker.

Bingham's triumph over O'Sullivan indicates that his continuous spell of being the best player in the world since April 2022 will be over soon, as Mark Allen is set to take over the top spot later this month.

The individual who is 48 years old lost the possibility of winning all three Triple Crown competitions in one season. This individual had already won the UK Championship and Masters earlier in the year.

Bingham will likely see his well-earned victory as a positive sign, as he had previously beaten this opponent at the same stage of the competition nine years ago.

After a draw of 8-8, O'Sullivan's impressive score of 136 would have made most opponents nervous. However, Bingham persisted and demonstrated his determination.

He gathered two scores of 50 runs each to regain the lead and remained composed despite facing a few unforeseen situations.

The 21st frame of the game had a temporary pause because Bingham was unable to hit the pink ball to the left corner. O'Sullivan requested referee Desislava Bozhilova to "chill" because he was not satisfied with the loud noise coming from individuals entering the opposite end of the auditorium.

In the past, O'Sullivan has stated that certain referees hold a personal vendetta against him. This claim resurfaced when a strange event happened during the match at a score of 6-5. Instead of trying to pot a red ball close to the black, O'Sullivan decided to play a safe shot. He did this because he suspected that the black ball was not in the appropriate position.

He asked the referee Bozhilova several times to get a new ball because it seemed to be moving slightly from its position while he was on a 20 break. However, the ball wasn't replaced and he ended up losing the frame.

Neil Robertson, the world champion in 2010, spoke on BBC Two and praised it as one of the most remarkable displays of sportsmanship he has witnessed.

Although O'Sullivan has won 41 ranking events, he recently expressed his thoughts on Eurosport. He mentioned that he believes some referees have a bias against him. As a result, he felt it was necessary to demonstrate to one particular ref that their decision was incorrect.

After potting the ball, I didn't have a good feeling, but my intention was to prove a point. Winning in that manner didn't excite me, so once I made my point, I could rest easy at night.

The accusations made by O'Sullivan were denied by World Snooker. They stated that Bozhilova, an experienced referee with 12 years of professional tour experience, followed all of the correct procedures.

Jones Exults As Trump Stumbles

In 2019, Trump was declared the winner and has secured five ranking events this season. He faced off against Jones, who is ranked 44th in the world, as the clear favorite.

Nevertheless, except for an extraordinary break of 110 in the initial frame of the game, he appeared to be a mere semblance of the player who has produced an impressive 79 century breaks throughout the season.

The last session on Wednesday followed the same pattern as the rest of the match, with Jones being in control of the game due to his safety play lasting for many frames. Trump's best break was only 22.

"I had a hard time. Although I had plenty of opportunities, the pace was not as fast as I wanted it to be. I couldn't find my tempo and felt like I was starting from scratch every time I approached the table," Trump stated.

I think I could have been more aggressive during the first two rounds, and it's possible that I played right into my opponent's strategy.

Having a successful performance in this place is quite challenging. However, his style of playing actually helped me in a way since I would have been beaten by 17 points if I had played in the same manner.

The professional snooker player named Jones has a cool nick, 'The Silent Assassin'. He made it to the quarter-finals a year ago, and it seems like his skills are just right for the extended version of the game. He's up against Bingham in a match that will be decided in the best of 33 rounds.

He skillfully scored 87 points to take a lead of 10-9, but his opponent's poor performance with some terrible misses also gave him support throughout the match.

Trump made a mistake during a regular shot in the 20th round, which gave Jones a chance to win the round with a score of 61. Then, in the following round, Trump missed a yellow ball in the top right corner without any clear reason, which helped Jones get closer to winning the game.

Wilson Is Feeling Confident

Wilson suffered a major loss of 13-2 against Higgins in Sheffield a year ago, but this time, he was able to maintain his dominance throughout the game.

He was in a position of advantage with scores of 5-3 and 9-7 at the end of the first two sessions. He scarcely appeared to give away his lead, as he combined some amazing safety strategies with a precise execution of shots when required.

He managed to win by scoring breaks of 56, 101, and 61. Based on his performance, it seems possible that he could do even better than last year, when he lost in the final.

Wilson expressed pride in himself for his comeback, considering that he has received several unpleasant beatings from John, particularly at the Crucible.

I have taken some time off to focus on improving my game and have come to the realization of my past mistakes. Sometimes, it takes a while to recover from such setbacks. I am proud to say that beating a legendary player like John is one of the greatest achievements of my career.

Gilbert's position in the world rankings has fallen from as high as 10th to not being among the top 30 in recent times.

He attributes his recent success of making it to the single-table format for the first time since 2019, defeating notable players like Luca Brecel, Rob Milkins, and Maguire, to a newly implemented fitness programme and other modifications to his routine.

Gilbert expressed that it was an idea that seemed unattainable a short while back, but he has now made it to the semifinals and is feeling fantastic.

This is a great accomplishment. Just a few weeks ago, I had no desire to participate in the qualifying rounds. I figured I would just show up, collect the £10,000 prize, and be done with it.

I possess a great deal of self-assurance and am driven to demonstrate to myself that I am capable of performing well.
