Even in defeat, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts gave a Super Bowl-worthy performance, writing himself into the history books.

The Eagles suffered an agonizing 38-35 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LVII on Sunday.

Despite the loss, Hurts had a performance to remember. The 24-year-old made history by becoming the first quarterback with 300+ passing yards, 70+ rushing yards and 3+ rushing TDs in a game in regular or postseason, according to NFL on CBS.

He also broke the Super Bowl rushing record for a quarterback, surpassing Steve McNair in the third quarter. He finished with 70 yards on 15 carries.

McNair set the record in 2000 when he ran for 64 yards in the Tennessee Titans' 23-16 loss to the St. Louis Rams.

He became first QB with 300+ passing yards, 70+ rushing yards and 3+ rushing TDs in a game

He tied Chicago Bears quarterback Jim McMahon as the only quarterbacks in Super Bowl history with two rushing touchdowns.

McMahon had two touchdowns on five attempts and 14 rushing yards in the Bears' 46-10 win over the New England Patriots in 1986's Super Bowl XX.

Hurts set his new record with his third rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, which tied him with Hall of Famer and former running back Terrell Davis as the only players with three rushing scores in a Super Bowl.

In spite of Hurts's historic performance, it was his rival quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, who claimed the Super Bowl MVP award after also scooping up his second NFL MVP award earlier in the week.

Hurts had led the Eagles to a 24-14 lead heading into halftime but his Chiefs counterpart, Mahomes, overcame an aggravated ankle injury to inspire a Kansas City comeback.

Philadelphia fought back to tie the game 35-35 but Kansas City set up the game to seal glory with a field goal with just eight seconds remaining.

Hurts is just looking to learn from his first ever Super Bowl experience and take it into next season.

'You want to cherish these moments with the people that you've come so far with, your family, your loved ones, your teammates, your peers, everyone that you do it with and do it for,' he said postgame.

'I'm so proud of this team. I would say I'm so proud of this team for everything that we've been able to overcome.

'Obviously, we had a big-time goal that we wanted to accomplish and we came up short.

'I think the beautiful part about it is everyone experiences different pains, everyone experiences different agonies of life, but you decide if you want to learn from it.

'You decide if you want that to be a teachable moment. I know I do.'
