During the 2022 NTA Awards, Holly Willoughby, who is a presenter on This Morning, attended the event.

A male individual has been accused of requesting someone to carry out a murder in relation to an alleged scheme to abduct the television personality Holly Willoughby.

The authorities from Essex Police took Gavin Plumb, who is 36 years old, into custody last Wednesday due to their ongoing investigation.

He also faced allegations of urging or encouraging someone to carry out a kidnapping.

On the latest episode of This Morning on Thursday, Willoughby was not present. It was reported that she was being safeguarded by the police at her residence throughout the evening of Thursday.

The accused has been arrested and will attend a hearing at Chelmsford magistrates court later today.

The Essex police did not verify if the alleged plan, initially reported in The Sun, had a motive to target Willoughby.

According to the newspaper, the police discovered "disturbing messages" that contained threats of abducting and causing severe harm to the celebrity. They also confiscated electronic devices and a cellular phone during the detainment.

Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby made a statement about the investigation, stating that it was conducted at a quick pace and involved the hard work of many officers and partners from across the country who worked through the night to ensure that charges were brought.

Protecting the well-being of all victims is crucial and our main focus. We will persist in prioritizing this and collaborating with the Metropolitan Police Service as the investigation progresses.

The event happened following a troublesome period for Willoughby, who has been hosting This Morning for over a decade.

Last year, the host was charged with "cutting" the line for the Queen's lying-in-state, leading to disapproval on social media.

Willoughby and her previous colleague Philip Schofield rejected the allegations, insisting that they were at Westminster Hall to shoot a unique feature.

Afterward, in the month of May, Schofield stepped down from his position due to speculation regarding their complicated relationship.

Afterwards, he confessed to engaging in a romantic relationship with a co-worker with a significant age difference and subsequently deceiving his coworkers about the situation.

During the aftermath, Willoughby declared her intention to stay on as a presenter, but withdrew from the show temporarily to allow things to calm down.

When she came back, she made a declaration on the television stating that she experienced a feeling of agitation, concern, and disappointment due to the events that occurred.

During the summer, many people who work or used to work for ITV got in touch with Members of Parliament (MPs) to talk about negative working conditions such as being treated badly, being bullied, being discriminated against, or being harassed. This was reported to be happening on shows that air during the day on ITV, including This Morning.

Willoughby's representative was contacted by the BBC for a statement regarding the supposed abduction scheme, however, they declined and redirected all questions to law enforcement authorities.
