Willoughby has faced a lot of challenges in recent times due to the controversy surrounding her previous colleague, Phillip Schofield. Schofield confessed to having a relationship with a younger male staff member that wasn't a good decision, but it wasn't against the law.

Schofield, who is 61 years of age, has stepped down from his position at ITV right away. This comes after he admitted to deceiving producers, coworkers, and his representative regarding his relationship.

Phillip Schofield has stated that he has lost his closest friend, Holly Willoughby, as a consequence of the recent scandal on their show, "This Morning".

During a conversation with Amol Rajan from the BBC, Schofield mentioned that he sent a message to Willoughby to express regret for deceiving her regarding the affair.

He recounted that the most recent exchange he had with Holly was through a text message where he urged her not to respond. This occurred following his statement which he made last week. He acknowledged that he may have been wrong to expect a response from her due to possible restrictive circumstances surrounding their communication. Nevertheless, he expressed profound regret for deceiving her.

The Sun was informed by the individual that the affair was a secret that they kept to themselves and never discussed with anybody. They additionally mentioned that they have now lost the person they considered to be their closest friend.

After Schofield made his statement, Willoughby posted on Instagram one day later (28 May) that she needed some time to come to terms with the news.

She expressed her distress upon discovering that the reports of this relationship, which she had previously confronted Phil about, were actually valid. Phil had reassured her at the time that they were false, and to learn of the deception has caused her a great deal of pain.
