Billy Vunipola, who is a rugby player for England, has reportedly been taken into custody due to being involved in a physical altercation at a bar in Mallorca, Spain.

As per Spanish media outlets, Vunipola was provoked twice by law enforcement officials at the Epic bar situated in Palma, at approximately 4:30 in the morning of last Sunday. It was because he started being hostile, and he supposedly made an attempt to assault customers and security guards.

According to reports, the back row who measures at 6 feet and 2 inches and weighs 20 stones, was accused of taking off his shirt and using bottles and chairs to threaten both customers and employees. Law enforcement personnel were contacted, and despite the initial taser shot having minimal effect, he was finally brought under control with a second shot.

According to reports, Vunipola, who plays for Saracens, is said to have resisted officers when they attempted to arrest him. They eventually managed to handcuff him and he was taken to a hospital where he was sedated and restrained to his bed.

On Sunday he went to court and was granted bail while they continue to investigate.

On Monday morning, Saracens made an announcement indicating that they are aware of an occurrence that involved Billy Vunipola in Majorca. The team plans on handling this incident privately and will refrain from making any additional remarks until a resolution is reached.

With a decade-long international career, the 31-year-old athlete has acquired 75 England caps, but his most recent appearance was in 2023. Furthermore, he missed out on being selected for the 2024 Six Nations, leading to the belief that he will depart from Saracens at the conclusion of the season to join French team Montpellier. This will signify the end of his England career.

Before starting his vacation, Vunipola participated in the match between Saracens and Bath on Friday evening. As Saracens are not taking part in the European semi-finals scheduled for this weekend, Vunipola was able to participate in the match.

There is no proof that Vunipola was consuming alcohol when the incident occurred, but there have been instances in the past where he was involved in alcohol-related controversies. For instance, during the 2019 Six Nations, he disobeyed the curfew set by the England team hotel after a night out with former England centre Ben Te’o.

Not long after Vunipola had stated to The Times in November 2018 that he had put an end to his drinking habits, he had an eventful incident. During the summer, his family, including his sibling Mako, had a meaningful conversation with him that led to Vunipola turning his life around. His parents and brother had a stern talk with him, and he ultimately heeded their advice to implement sobriety in his life.
