Billy Vunipola tasered twice during arrest at weekend in Spanish bar

Billy Vunipola

The police officers used a taser twice on Billy Vunipola when they took him into custody at the bar in Majorca early on Sunday morning following an altercation.

There was an incident at the Epic bar in Palma where an English rugby player removed his shirt and started wielding bottles and chairs in a threatening manner towards customers and staff. The police in Spain reported that Vunipola, who is over six feet tall and weighs more than 20 stone, was then subjected to a taser after attacking an officer.

Afterwards, he was brought to a hospital close by called Son Espases. News articles displayed an image sequence of him being escorted from a law enforcement vehicle into a police station located in the vicinity.

On Monday, Vunipola released a statement acknowledging the event and expressing regret "for any trouble caused to everyone involved." He verified that he was present in an unpleasant miscommunication while departing a club in Majorca on Sunday that escalated.

Despite what the media said, there wasn't any violence or altercation that happened and I did not make any threats towards anyone using objects such as bottles or chairs or any other item. The only charge that was made against me was the charge of resisting the law, and after a quick trial, I had to pay a fine amounting to €240.

The investigation by the Spanish police has ended, so I am returning to the United Kingdom today. I will cooperate with the Saracens' internal procedures, and I offer my sincere apologies to everyone involved for any inconvenience caused.

A representative from the Majorca National Police stated that they detained a 31-year-old man from another country for allegedly disobeying and assaulting a police officer at around 4:30am yesterday. The incident occurred at a recreational venue situated along the Palma beach, where the man caused disturbances inside the facility.

The guy refused to listen to logic and started arguing with other clients. The security team couldn't control him or escort him out of the area. Authorities were informed, and they showed up to the scene. After noticing the individual, who had taken off his shirt and was gesticulating, the cops evacuated everyone from the building.

It was at that point when he confronted the police and made an effort to attack them. Although the officers made continuous attempts to pacify him, he was unwilling to listen. The man then physically assaulted an officer by pushing and hitting them. Consequently, a policeman took out an electric stun gun and fired it, but the first attempt failed as the gun did not fire.

After the first attempt failed, they fired another projectile that succeeded in subduing the suspect. The officers immediately pounced on him and restrained him by securing him with shackles. They then transported him to Son Espases hospital for examination and to carry out his arrest.

On Monday, Saracens released a statement regarding an incident involving Billy Vunipola that occurred in Majorca. Saracens has acknowledged the situation and plans to address it internally. No additional statements will be made until the situation has been dealt with.

This player, who is 31 years old, has had a great career playing for England's national team and has earned 75 caps. However, he did not participate in this year's Six Nations tournament. He played in a match for his club team, Sarries, as a substitute in the second half and helped them secure a 15-12 victory against Bath on Friday night. After that, he's taken some time off to go on holiday as the team won't be playing again until May 11th.

Saracens are currently in the second position in the ranking of top-flight rugby union clubs in England, and they are pushing to win their sixth league championship in the past decade. This is especially crucial as there are only two more rounds of regular season games left before the playoffs.
