Bayern Munich bounce back with victory over Union Berlin

Bayern vs Union Berlin

In their rescheduled match on Wednesday, Bayern Munich narrowly defeated Union Berlin 1-0 at home. This victory was crucial for Bayern, as it allowed them to recover from their previous loss to Werder Bremen and reduced the gap between them and the top-ranked team in the Bundesliga to only four points.

The match was delayed in December due to the heavy snowfall in Munich.

Bayern really wanted to make up for their unfortunate 1-0 loss last Sunday, and they put the pressure on their opponents right from the start. Union's goalkeeper, Frederik Ronnow, did a good job stopping Matthijs de Ligt's header and Dayot Upamecano's follow-up shot in just the seventh minute of the match. Ronnow then made another great save, tipping Kingsley Coman's low shot just wide a little while later.

Coman, the side forward, nearly scored for Bayern in the 23rd minute, but the ball missed the post. Bayern controlled the ball for most of the first half, with around 80% of the possession.

After just a few moments of the second half, Raphaël Guerreiro scored the first goal of the match by shooting the ball into the net after Harry Kane's shot hit the post and then came back to him.

The Union team wasn't in trouble much during the game, but their head coach, Nenad Bjelica, got kicked out at the 74th minute for pushing Bayern's Leroy Sané in the face twice. Sané was just going for the ball that was near the Union coach.

Bayern have climbed to 44 points in second position, while Leverkusen are in front of the championship race with 48 points.
