Volvo's EX30 SUV: Ultimate Green Car

Automotive industry

Volvo says their new SUV, the EX30, is their "greenest-ever" electric car. It's coming out on June 7 in Milan. This is a big deal for Volvo because they've already made two other electric cars. Volvo wants to be carbon-neutral by 2040 and this new car will help them get there.

Volvo's sustainability head, Anders Karrberg, said the new EX30 SUV is great for the environment. Less metal was used since it will be smaller. The car uses recycled materials such as steel and aluminum- 17% of steel and about a quarter of aluminum. Additionally, 17% of all plastic used is recycled, the highest percentage in any Volvo car to date.

The upcoming Volvo EX30 e-SUV has a unique feature where it creates sounds when opening the doors. It can also detect if the driver is feeling drowsy.

Volvo says EX30 SUV factory will use climate-neutral energy. The factory will rely on 100% renewable electricity. Additionally, 95% of the SUV's main suppliers pledged to use 100% renewable energy by 2025.

Volvo says the EX30 SUV will be different in other ways. They say it'll be their first car with a safety feature that tries to stop accidents with bikes.
