Trio make EURO 2024 provisional Scotland squad – Hearts

Scotland has included three players, namely Zander Clark, Craig Gordon, and Lawrence Shankland, in their provisional squad for EURO 2024.

The group of three football players from Hearts have been invited to join the national team for their upcoming two friendly matches against Gibraltar and Finland.

After that, the manager Steve Clarke will decide who is going to be a part of his 26-man squad for the Europe Championship finals taking place in Germany on June 14th.

Zander had an amazing season for the Jambos by making many important saves, including stopping penalty kicks against Hibs and Celtic. He managed to keep the goal clean 15 times, which is the second highest number in the Premiership.

Despite facing immense challenges, Craig made a remarkable comeback after suffering a break in both his legs. He returned to the field by donning the Hearts jersey this season and made seven notable appearances as their goalkeeper. Craig's commendable performance played a pivotal role in leading the Jam Tarts to the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

Lawrence received numerous awards for his outstanding achievements in football. He scored 31 goals for the team wearing maroon, which led them to two Hampden appearances and a third-place finish in the league. This accomplishment guaranteed that they would participate in the group-stage of the European football competition. Lawrence was awarded the PFA Scotland Player of the Year, the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, the cinch Premiership Player of the Year, and the SPFL Golden Boot, among other honors, after yet another remarkable year. These accolades were in recognition of his record-breaking performances.

On the 3rd of June, Scotland will play against Gibraltar in an away match, followed by hosting Finland on the 7th. On the 14th of June, they will begin their EURO 2024 campaign with a game against Germany in Munich.
