Primary school allocations announced for September | PLYMOUTH.GOV.UK

School admissions

Today, numerous kids from Plymouth will receive information about the primary school they will attend in September.

The school's admissions squad have exerted considerable effort to ensure timely completion of the primary admissions procedure. This allows Plymouth families to prepare for their youngsters' beginning of their schooling.

Today, confirmation emails regarding school enrollment for September 2024 have been dispatched to the parents. They now have a span of one week to respond and accept the offer of the school place.

If individuals have applied for their spot on the internet, the most convenient way to react is by using their virtual account. In case guardians fail to reply, the designated place may be removed and given to another person.

New statistics reveal that almost all urban children, specifically 2,357 of them, were granted admission to one of their three preferred educational institutions this year. A mere 29 pupils, which is equivalent to 1.22%, were not given seats in their chosen schools and were instead assigned to the closest available institution with an available slot.

This year, a sum of 2,386 applications were sent in for primary school spots. This is lower in comparison to last year's figures which came in at 2,574. For the prior year, the Council had the capacity to coordinate almost 92% of families with their first preference of primary school.

Parents should be aware that if they ranked a school higher than the one their child has been allocated, their child will be placed on a waiting list for that school. If a slot opens up before the school year commences, their child will be considered for that vacancy. If you decide you do not want to stay on the school's waiting list, you must inform the school admission team in written form.
