In a statement to People, Paula Abdul - who served as a judge during her Idol season in 2006 - described her as a "genuine source of inspiration".

Danny Gokey, a famous Idol celebrity, expressed his extreme sorrow on a popular social media platform formerly known as Twitter. He used the word "devastated".

Mandisa's representative affirmed to the PA news agency that she was discovered lifeless in her residence on Thursday.
