Great Britain’s Emma Raducanu insists she is “feeling good” about her tennis, despite calling on a trainer during her 7-6(3) 6-2 win over Poland's Magda Linette.

Raducanu’s participation at Indian Wells was in major doubt as she has been contending with a wrist injury and a bout of tonsillitis which meant she had not been able to compete on the WTA tour since the Australian Open in January.

At 6-5 up in the first set of her match against Linette, the British No. 1 called the physio but did not accept any treatment, instead deciding to take a tablet and refused a medical timeout.

After Raducanu’s straight sets win over the world No. 21, Raducanu refused to go into any detail about what the issue was.

"Yeah, I got some treatment in between," she said.

"It's the same. It's manageable. Still able to win matches at this level. Managing it. Yeah, as to what it is, I'm not going to go into it."

The 2021 US Open champion has enjoyed an encouraging start to her Indian Wells campaign and says she is prepared to handle “whatever it takes” to winning the biggest prizes in women’s tennis.

"Sometimes you wonder, like, how is this possible?" Raducanu told reporters.

"But then very quickly I think you create your own luck. It works both ways. I won the U.S. Open as well.

“I have to take the bad luck sometimes because good fortune has also come upon me.

"I wouldn't trade that title for the world. I'm just prepared to take whatever it takes, knowing that I have that in the bank.”

She added: "I feel good with the way I'm working with my team, not getting overly pleased or too down.

"I'm just plodding away. I feel pretty good about how things are going."

Raducanu will play No.13 seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the third round on Monday.

Should Raducanu overcome the Brazilian, she could face world No.1 Iga Swiatek in the fourth round if the Pole beats Canada’s Bianca Andreescu.
