BT's Digital Unit has passed an evaluation from the EDM Council for cloud readiness, indicating that it will provide a sturdy basis for the company's cloud and data aspirations. For the first time in the telecommunications industry, an evaluation was carried out by ProjectiveGroup to assess the efficiency of BT's data classification and management system. A total of 50 BT staff members from different fields, including data management, engineering, legal, privacy, security, compliance, and networks, participated in this assessment. BT stated that after clearing this evaluation, they are now capable of reducing data classification and management duplication by over 70%, thereby eliminating significant overlap.

BT can deploy key applications and data services with ease now that the assessment has been successfully completed. Moreover, insights generated from the assessment will help implement analytics and AI responsibly. According to the Head of Information Architecture at BT Group, Ben Clinch, a strong foundation is crucial for creating more value for its customers and driving growth for the company. Clinch also emphasized BT's strong commitment to the CDMC framework, indicating continued support and participation in its development.

The leader of EDM Council, John Bottega, expressed admiration for BT Group's devotion to pioneering cloud technology. He also highlighted the benefits of impartial evaluation of their cloud platform, as this would instill trust in partners considering cloud or hybrid-cloud plans, and make sure that data security and management is prioritised. BT is focusing on implementing responsible data, cloud and AI projects to assure its customers and stakeholders of its thorough approach to expanding into new technological areas.
