British Gas to Reduce Energy Prices This Autumn

British Gas has recently announced that they will be cutting their energy prices by an average of 3.8%, in line with the decrease in wholesale gas costs. This is the second decrease in prices this year, with the first being announced in February, when prices were lowered by 5.1%. The new reductions will take effect on 16th November 2021 and will apply to customers on standard variable or default tariffs. The company has estimated that this will save the average customer around £52 per year.

British Gas Launches Brand New "Remote Heating Control" App

British Gas is aiming to make home energy management even easier with the launch of their new "Remote Heating Control" app. The app will allow users to control their heating and hot water remotely, meaning they can make sure their home is always at the desired temperature, even if they're away. The app is compatible with most smartphones and can also be accessed through a web browser. It comes with features such as "geo-fencing", which will turn the heating off automatically when the user leaves their home, and "holiday mode", which will keep the heating at a minimum setting while they're away. The app is available to all British Gas customers with a compatible smart thermostat, and can be downloaded for free from app stores.
