Lewis Ferguson: Scotland international named Serie A midfielder of the year
Lewis Ferguson, a player from Scotland, has been declared as the winner of the prestigious Bulgarelli No 8 Award. This award is only given to the most outstanding midfielder in the Italian Serie A league for the entire season.
The leader of Bologna's team, who came to the club after playing for Aberdeen in 2022, showed great skill during the 2023/24 season. However, in April, they sustained a severe knee injury that ended their season prematurely.
Previously, Ferguson achieved a total of 6 goals and 4 assists in 31 Serie A matches, contributing to his team's near qualification for the Champions League, a feat they've never accomplished before.
The Bulgarelli No 8 Award, which is named after the remarkable Bologna and Italy midfielder Giacomo Bulgarelli, has been given to notable players in the past including Daniele De Rossi, Nicolo Barella, and Sandro Tonali.
Ferguson, who played 12 games for Scotland, won't be able to participate in the upcoming Euros in Germany and most probably won't be able to play the rest of the year due to surgery.

On June 14, Scotland will kick off their journey in Euro 2024 by playing against the team hosting the tournament, Germany. In addition to them, Switzerland and Hungary will also be a part of Group A.
