According to reports, Marco Reus is contemplating moving to MLS as a free agent following the upcoming Champions League final in 2024. St. Louis SC has reportedly engaged in "preliminary discussions" with the legendary Borussia Dortmund player.

The Athletic reports that the 34-year-old has many different opportunities available to him as he prepares to finish his career outside of his home country.

There have been rumors connecting him to teams in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, but there is also a possibility that he might end up in a significant city within Missouri. This is due to his strong bond with Roman Burki, who used to play for Dortmund for seven years before transferring to the MLS team in 2022.

However, according to sources from The Athletic, St. Louis has not included Reus in their list of potential signees just yet, revealing that negotiations are still in the preliminary stages. It's important to note that in MLS, teams must first add players to their "discovery list" before they can be considered for signing. As such, clubs have a restricted amount of slots on this list.

At the age of 35, Reus has been a crucial member of Dortmund's team that reached the highly-coveted Champions League final in 2013 as well as winning three DFL-Supercups and two DFB-Pokals.

Borussia Dortmund will lose Marco Reus this summer as he celebrates his 35th birthday.

The playmaker is associated with St. Louis because of his tight companionship with goalkeeper Roman Burki.

From 2018 to 2023, he was the leader of the club and recorded a total of 150 goals. This player is known for his attacking abilities and has experience playing as a winger as well. He is in a group of only three players who have achieved 100 goals and assists in the Bundesliga.

He received the title of German Football of the Year two times and was also awarded the title of Bundesliga Player of the Season for three seasons.

Reus, who has represented Germany on 48 occasions, has faced injury setbacks throughout his professional career. Unfortunately, he was unable to participate in key tournaments such as the 2014 World Cup which Germany emerged victorious, as well as Euro 2016, 2018, and the upcoming 2022 World Cup. Nevertheless, he proudly contributed to Germany's efforts in Euro 2012 and the 2018 World Cup.

Ex-France and Manchester City athlete Sami Nasri states that he has information about Reus' future destination for the forthcoming summer.

During an interview with Canal+, he stated that he had a conversation with Marco Reus. Reus expressed his deep passion for the sport and has no plans of retiring anytime soon. Instead, he intends to join MLS for the upcoming season.
