Bishop’s Stortford’s Eurovision star SuRie backs Olly Alexander to win for UK

Olly Alexander

SuRie, who represented Bishop's Stortford in Eurovision, is supporting Olly Alexander as the UK's potential winner this year.

In 2018, the individual who used to attend Herts and Essex High School and was once a student at St Joseph's primary in the same town participated.

Even though her song, Storm, ranked 24th out of 26, she achieved recognition in the competition's history because a person intruded onto the stage during her performance.

Even though a male individual took her microphone and screamed "UK media are Nazis, we want freedom" before being forcefully removed by security personnel, SuRie remained calm and composed.

The performer who writes and sings her own songs, currently at the age of 35, gained popularity among her admirers by keeping her composure and carrying on with her show.

Susanna Marie Cork was born in Harlow and spent her childhood residing in Warwick Road. She was an active participant in the junior section of Bishop's Stortford Musical Theatre Company, and she loved singing with Cantate youth choir. Additionally, she enrolled in classes at the Jenny Myhill School of Dance and Performing Arts.

Olly, the former singer of the band Years & Years, is aiming to take the crown this year with an energetic rendition of his track, Dizzy.

SuRie has participated in Eurovision before, representing Belgium in both 2015 and 2017. She firmly believes that including Olly in this year's competition is a wise decision.

During an interview held by Spin Genie, she expressed, "Olly's exceptionally attractive and a standout performer. The fact that there's someone who can effortlessly carry themselves and thoroughly enjoy the dramatic flair of Eurovision onstage is truly impressive."

It's really amazing when a person can combine their talent as an actor and musician to create something truly beautiful. It's great when they can seamlessly blend these two worlds together.

I have observed video snippets of the performance, the layout, and the entire idea, and it's astonishing.

I'm really looking forward to getting a good view of it and enjoying the whole performance. In my opinion, he's an excellent selection and a wonderful person overall. I wish him all the enjoyment in the world.

"He possesses the necessary skills to manage the high-energy atmosphere confidently. That's impressive."

She had a straightforward suggestion for the flashy performer who was the main act at Standon Calling in 2023: "He doesn't require my assistance. He has it all under control. However, it's crucial to take a few breaks whenever possible."

It can be quite challenging to locate a peaceful moment to fully comprehend and appreciate what you have accomplished. To acknowledge your efforts and recognize that this is an exceptionally significant moment in your professional journey and an exceptional project to contribute to.

Finding time for self-reflection during the week can be challenging, but if you manage to do so, it's truly valuable.

As the much awaited grand finale in Malmö, Sweden, is just around the corner on May 11, SuRie is still very excited about the legendary competition.

I have a hard time dealing with individuals who look down on or have negative attitudes towards Eurovision. They tend to criticize or belittle it.

It's a shame that some people aren't taking part in the amazing gathering of diverse and lovely individuals. If only we could capture all that positivity and keep it for later.

It's truly beautiful to have a place where you can just be you without fear of being judged or discriminated against.

I was pleasantly surprised by the overwhelming amount of love shown to me by the global audience at that particular moment.

I didn't think people would still be loyal to me after what happened, but I feel really lucky that they are. Even though it was a bad situation, the community has been really caring and protective of me. They have continued to come to my shows, send me fan mail, and even give me gifts - it's been six years now and I still can't believe it. Their kindness and support mean so much to me.

The writer of the blog mentions that there's a possibility of the magic artist returning as a performer, but her ultimate goal is to pursue a career similar to that of Hannah Waddingham and Rylan Clark, who are both UK presenters.

She expressed that she has been fortunate enough to attend three Eurovisions and believes that she played a lesser role in the first two productions. Nevertheless, she thoroughly enjoyed her experiences.

It was a great pleasure and exciting experience to place fourth twice with the Belgian team. Winning three Eurovision contests might be sufficient, and I might have had my highest Eurovision achievement ever. However, anything can happen in the future.

If I were offered a mind-blowing and innovative music piece, I wouldn't decline it. I'm not foolish to turn down an opportunity to be part of such an incredible project, as it's an exhilarating experience. Therefore, I would definitely contemplate on it.

Hannah Waddingham is someone I look up to in the world of musical theatre. Achieving that level of success is what I aspire to.

I have a dream to host a prestigious show like Hannah Waddingham. Even though I may be mistaken about her age, I believe she is in her 50s. However, I am willing to work hard for the next 20 years to gain experience and notoriety by performing on stage and television. With enough success, I would put myself forward for the role of host if given the opportunity. Both Hannah Waddingham and Rylan are my ideal hosts, and I hope to follow in their footsteps one day.

During my entire Eurovision experience, I have not come across anyone as exceptionally beautiful as Rylan. This is because 2018 was his first year as the presenter of the semifinals.

I haven't encountered someone so nice, authentic, sociable, skilled, clever, bright, sharp, and witty in my entire life. It would be amazing to witness Rylan assume a hosting role should the opportunity arise in the UK.

In summary, she stated that people's perception of the song contest's performance standards have changed since Sam Ryder's victory in the jury vote and second-place finish to Ukraine in 2022.

Having Olly Alexander on board is a great achievement and we hope to see more amazing things happening every year. The goal is to keep improving and having unforgettable experiences.

The ultimate goal isn't always victory. It may seem ridiculous for me to claim that, given my low position on the scoreboard, but in terms of the show itself, it's an incredibly rewarding experience.

You desire this experience to be available for all individuals, regardless of whether they are new or have been around for a while. You hope to see someone as enthusiastic and confident as Olly Alexander, declaring, "I'm thrilled to represent the UK!" It is a fantastic event to participate in, no matter the outcome.
