Open letter to President Biden: we call for a ceasefire now | Open letter

We are a bunch of Jewish folks hailing from America who excel in writing, art, and academics. Each one of us has our perception of what it means to be Jewish. However, we all share one common ground- being born to a Jewish parent. This qualification opens a doorway for us to move to Israel and become an Israeli citizen.

We strongly denounce any form of assault on innocent Israelis and Palestinians. It's our firm belief that we must condemn the actions of Hamas, while also recognizing the oppression that Palestinians have faced throughout history and continue to face today. Furthermore, we believe it's crucial to speak out against Hamas' attack and the unjust punishment being brought upon the people of Gaza. This punishment is only escalating as we speak, and we must take a stand against it.

More than 2 million individuals had their resources taken away and families were forced to leave their residences in the north through violent means. Additionally, innocent people who were trapped were bombed without consideration. These inhumane and illegal acts are completely unjustifiable. However, the US government is standing by "morally" and supporting the killings of innocent people in Gaza. To make our opposition clear, we choose to publicly declare our stance against the actions of the Israeli government which have been fueled by American support. We strongly urge the US government to seek an immediate cease-fire and utilize our assets to provide aid that ensures the safe return of the hostages. We must focus on creating a diplomatic route towards peace.

We, as Jews and citizens of the United States, should feel secure not just because the US government backs Israel without question, but because our government prioritizes and demands the universal human rights that we often overlook. This will allow us to feel protected and guaranteed in our neighborhoods and worldwide.

Additionally, she feels that the letter V represents power, transformation, and possibility. V is an author, activist, and playwright who is best known for her groundbreaking play, The Vagina Monologues. She has spent her career advocating for women's rights and raising awareness about issues related to sexual violence and exploitation. V hopes that her decision to change her name will inspire others to embrace their own identities and continue fighting for justice. She believes that every individual has the power to make a difference and create positive change in the world.
