Ahead of the European Championship qualifier in Yerevan on Saturday, a total of over 30 football supporters from Wales have been taken into custody by Armenian authorities.

The Welsh Football Association announced that 32 fans were detained in the city of Yerevan in Armenia. The Foreign Office was also notified and is involved.

Approximately 1,200 Welsh supporters traveled all the way to Yerevan to witness the match, in which the final score was 1-1. Unfortunately for Wales, their opportunity to qualify for Euro 2024 seems rather slim.

According to a statement from the FAW, they are cognizant of the circumstances involving their supporters in Yerevan and are having frequent conversations with the onboard law enforcement and the Football Supporters' Association Cymru.

FSA Cymru represents the fans and is in communication with the nearby officials and South Wales Police, working together to connect with the local law enforcement.

The Welsh team had a tie game with Armenia in Yerevan, putting their chances of qualifying in a precarious situation.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom is also participating.

A representative from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office stated that they are providing assistance to several Welsh Football supporters currently in Armenia and are keeping in touch with the relevant authorities.

Fan Embassy Wales, which operates under the X name on FSA Cymru, warned prior to the game that numerous ticket scalpers were present on the roads leading up to the stadium. They advised fans to exercise caution around these individuals, and also noted that local law enforcement officials had indicated that they would not permit any supporters in areas of the stadium where they did not belong.

If Wales wins against Armenia and Latvia wins against Croatia on Saturday, then Wales will secure a spot in the Euro 2024 competition.
