Global Traveler Picks Seoul as Best Leisure Destination in Asia

The Korea Furniture Museum in Seoul recently welcomed a group of foreign visitors, as shown in a photo provided by the Seoul metropolitan government. The exact date of the photo is not known.

The Asian city of Seoul has been chosen by Global Traveler, a travel magazine headquartered in the United States, as the most favorable leisure destination in the area, according to a statement by the city government on Sunday.

As reported on the website of the magazine, they carried out a survey among their readers between December and April. The survey aimed to identify the optimal destinations in various categories that pertain to recreational, high-end and contemporary travel. This survey was part of the 11th annual Leisure Lifestyle Awards.

The city government announced that as K-content gains more popularity, so does the trend of leisure tourism in Seoul, which is now spreading worldwide. The government plans to take advantage of this opportunity to bring in more tourists to the city.

The local government declared that although the COVID-19 pandemic has severely impacted tourism, it marketed Seoul's features across borders with the help of its honorary ambassador and famous K-pop star, BTS.

In the previous year, a specialized tourism center for hikers was established at the entrance of Mount Bukhan, and there are plans for establishing another center for tourists near Mount Inwang and Mount Bugak in the current year.
