Tracy Brabin re-elected as Mayor of West Yorkshire

The voters of West Yorkshire have chosen Tracy Brabin once again to serve as their Mayor.

The Labour representative, who was the first person to hold the position of mayor in the area, has been elected again in 2021. The election results were declared today after vote counts carried out at the John Charles Center for Sport in Leeds and other venues located throughout West Yorkshire.

On Thursday, people in Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, and Wakefield voted in elections. The total number of people who participated in the elections was 32.71%.

Ms Brabin won the election by a large margin of 275,430 votes compared to her opponent, Arnold Craven, who only received 82,757 votes.

In the recently concluded election, a number of candidates representing different political parties vied for the parliamentary seat. A breakdown of the votes showed that Tracy Brabin of the Labour Party emerged with the highest number of votes casted, garnering 275,430 votes. Other notable candidates included Arnold Craven of the Conservative Party, who amassed 82,757 votes, and Andrew Cooper of the Green Party, with 66,648 votes. Meanwhile, Bob Buxton of the Yorkshire Party received 47,937 votes, while Jonathan Tilt, who represented himself as an independent candidate, received 46,443 votes. Bringing up the rear was Stewart Golton of the Liberal Democrats with 27,501 votes.

The percentage of people who participated was 32.71.
