"Canelo" isn't going to leave anytime soon. If you were unsure about the position of the champion of the sport of boxing, look no further than Jaime Munguia to see what Saul Alvarez is made of.

On the weekend of Cinco de Mayo, Munguia fought against the top super-middleweight champion in Las Vegas. Despite giving it his all, Munguia was not able to succeed and left the ring without the victory.

Next up was Canelo, with bloody gloves, showing his expertise in boxing by giving his younger Mexican opponent, who is only 27 years old, a harsh lesson in the ring at the T-Mobile Arena.

Munguia commenced the match with great energy and determination, possibly winning the first three rounds as he aimed to prove himself better than his fellow countryman. However, Canelo's defense and strategic timing slowed the younger fighter's progress, countering his high volume and tenacity.

In round four, Munguia was knocked down for the first time in his career by a powerful right uppercut. The look on the challenger's face showed his surprise. Unfortunately, this was not the only first that Munguia experienced in the fight, as he was also handed the first loss of his career by Canelo in the following eight rounds. Canelo relentlessly punished Munguia throughout the remainder of the bout.

During the sixth round of the match, Canelo caused Munguia to stumble by using a jab and then pretending to use another jab before actually throwing a hook punch. This type of hook punch was frequently used by Canelo as his preferred method of attack throughout the fight, while Munguia's attempts at using his own left hook were unsuccessful. Munguia would often put too much effort into his punches, causing him to miss his target, while Canelo chose his shots carefully and timed them perfectly.

Munguia persevered through the fight, and out of the three judges' cards (117-110, 116-111, and 115-112), the last one was the most just. Despite some opinions, Munguia undoubtedly secured the first few rounds and demonstrated remarkable determination by winning a couple more towards the end.

Regardless of how many rounds he competed in, he was never able to secure the championship belts or carry the Olympic torch.

The final outcome was undeniable, similarly to Canelo's position as the top fighter in the division – and as he perceives it, the greatest in the sport.

Currently, I am the top contender in fighting. Undoubtedly, that's what Alvarez confidently stated in his post-match interview, as Munguia, who was defeated and deflated, had to accept the truth that he could not have done anything else. At times, he was beaten almost condescendingly by the superior fighter.

Undoubtedly, I would have emerged victorious against any other opponent tonight," Munguia expressed. "I began the fight strongly, but he definitely presented challenges for me. He's a seasoned fighter. Sadly, he triumphed and the defeat is painful for me."

On the other hand, Alvarez was very determined when it came to the suggestions of having a duel with David Benavidez. He stated, "At this moment, I'm not certain. I plan on taking some time to relax and spend time with my loved ones. However, if the compensation is appropriate, I'm open to it. If the payment is fair, I'll engage in a fight immediately without any hesitation." His response indicated that money is a crucial factor in his decision-making process.

Many people are making demands at present, but I stood up to all of them. As a result, I have the freedom to request and carry out anything I desire. I am of Mexican descent, and I proudly exclaim, "Viva Mexico, my dear friends!"

It's safe to say that Canelo will call the shots. His desire to continue fighting seems to be never-ending.

Although Alvarez is only 33 years old, he has already had 65 professional fights, which has made him feel like an older fighter. There are some opinions suggesting that he may want to consider retiring, but these comments are not meant to be insulting. People are aware that Canelo has achieved everything that he needs to and has also earned a significant amount of money from his career.

At the moment, it appears that the Mexican is unconcerned about this issue. It seems like there is no solution in the near future, and he is stuck in the same place.
