Premium wines from South Australia will be displayed in Bordeaux, a famous and esteemed wine hub, after an agreement was made with La Cité du Vin, the renowned wine museum. This remarkable achievement took place during a tour by Primary Industries Minister, Clare Scriven.

The recently signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) will allow people visiting the renowned wine museum La Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, France, to have the opportunity to sample and enjoy premium wines from South Australia. Through this agreement, winemakers from South Australia can collaborate with the museum, which boasts an impressive annual visitor count of nearly half a million people, to host various events and specialized classes for wine enthusiasts.

The chance to connect with La Cité du Vin comes about because Adelaide and South Australia are part of the Great Wine Capitals Global Network (GWCGN).

Minister Scriven's trip to La Cite du Vin was highlighted by the opportunity to sample top-quality wines from Penfolds, a renowned winemaker based in South Australia.

The Primary Industries and Regions Department will reach out to winemakers in South Australia through local wine associations in order to ensure that South Australian wines continue to be featured in tastings at La Cité du Vin. Winemakers from all areas will be given the chance to take part.

Minister Scriven expressed that being a part of the esteemed Great Wine Capitals Global Network grants not only status and acknowledgment, but more significantly, it fosters robust connections, opportunities for guidance, and the exchange of knowledge among top-tier wine regions.

The agreement with La Cité du Vin offers a solid center for the South Australian wine industry to tap into the European market, granting our producers ongoing chances to benefit.

South Australia is without a doubt the wine hub of Australia, responsible for crafting 50% of our bottled wine and over 75% of our high-quality wine. By fortifying our connection to Bordeaux via the Great Wine Capitals Global Network and reinvigorating our affiliation with La Cité du Vin, we are demonstrating our unwavering dedication to the wine sector and recognizing its crucial contributions to our economy.
