When the celebrity mentioned on The One Show that she was encountering difficulties with Rufus Wainwright's musical score for his latest project, Opening Night, it was evident that the tunes weren't simple to handle.

The Gielgud Theatre will start showing Opening Night on March 6. The main actress, Smith, plays a well-known performer from Broadway who is struggling with her mental health before the beginning of a new production. This results in a musical score with numerous grandiose songs.

During an episode of a show hosted by Alex Jones, Smith commented on the songs they were working on together with Rufus. When asked if the songs were "ambitious", Smith confirmed that they were. She expressed her admiration for Rufus's impressive vocal range, which she struggled to match. However, Smith is determined to get there and has been taking singing lessons while practicing the songs for a few months. She considers Rufus a genius.

Despite receiving numerous awards and being highly praised for her previous roles, Smith stated that this new role she is taking on is the most significant and demanding one yet.

She revealed a fresh set of darker tresses to portray her character. She mentioned that her purpose was to appear more mature and sophisticated. This change in hair color made her feel more elegant.

In regard to how she intended to cope with performing eight shows a week, she stated, "Prior to our performance, I intend to gather the entire cast for a group hug. This will instill a sense of unity as we embark upon our theatrical journey, pouring every ounce of our emotions and drama onto the stage. Once the show concludes, I plan to play some music and let loose by dancing and shaking out any tension."

Smith, a mother of a three-year-old named Billy, mentioned her efforts in acquainting her son with her passion for musical theatre. She illustrated this by taking him to watch the famed Frozen musical and also shared her son's delightful comments with her regarding her work.

She stated that he finally grasped the concept that she had to go to her job. As she departed their home, he yelled out the window requesting that she sing one song before returning home.
