Russell Crowe

The way Russell Crowe looked on The One Show came as a shock to a few people who were watching.

What Did You Overlook?

A lot of people were taken aback when Russell Crowe popped up on The One Show, as he didn't quite resemble the actor they had seen in movies.

A famous actor who has starred in popular movies such as Gladiator, Les Miserables and L.A. Confidential, at the age of 60, took part in a BBC program to talk about his ongoing music tour across Europe with comedian Jimmy Carr. However, some viewers were perplexed when they saw him on the show, mistaking him for another comedian and actor, Johnny Vegas.

What, How, And Why?

Despite not being present on The One Show couch, a few observers mistook someone else for Johnny Vegas. This was reported by AFP via Getty Images.

Crowe teamed up with British comedian Carr to have a conversation with hosts Lauren Laverne and Jermaine Jenas regarding his lifetime goal of touring as a rock musician with Russell's Indoor Garden Party. Crowe and Carr go way back and they shared that they also hit the tennis courts together.

When questioned about who was the superior tennis player, Crowe replied by emphasizing their teamwork. Conversely, Carr wasted no time in declaring himself the better player and pointed to himself as evidence. He also added that he resembles Roger Federer more than Crowe. Although Crowe ultimately admitted defeat, he qualified his concession by acknowledging that Carr indeed resembled Federer in a specific light.

However, the audience seemed to be intrigued by another similarity. Various individuals on the social networking site X were quick to point out that they had actually confused Crowe for the well-known entertainer, Johnny Vegas, who is famous for his appearances in Benidorm.

"Wow, I turned on #TheOneShow and initially thought Johnny Vegas was on, but holy cow, it's actually Russell Crowe," one person excitedly exclaimed. Another viewer chimed in, stating, "I glanced at the TV and seriously thought Jimmy Carr was sitting next to Johnny Vegas on #TheOneShow, but I was wrong!" A third person commented, "I was so excited to see Johnny Vegas, but then I realized it was just Russell Crowe #TheOneShow." Finally, someone else posed the question, "Is that Russel Crowe or Johnny Vegas sitting on #TheOneShow?"

Many people watching the movies A Beautiful Mind and State Of Play didn't realize that the main actor was Russell Crowe. Instead, they thought he was another actor, John Goodman, who is known for his comedic performances and for starring in the TV show Roseanne.

Here's a reworded version of the blog section: A person posted a tweet expressing their observation that Russell Crowe appeared to be in good health, but mistook him for John Goodman. Another individual commented on "The One Show," questioning whether the person on screen was either John Goodman or Russell Crowe. A third commentator joined in, saying that Russell Crowe bore a resemblance to John Goodman from "Roseanne."

The One Show: What's New?

Crowe expressed his affection for Leeds United and disclosed that he has recently acquired stakes in the soccer club.

During the early 1970s, once I was done with playing sports, there weren't many TV channels available and we ended up watching one of the three channels at home. In the afternoon, there were only a few programs aired such as gardening show, yoga show, or Match Of The Day. My preference was to watch Leeds play as they were a successful team in that era. My brother selected Liverpool to support, so I opted for Leeds.

Recently, I became intrigued by Leeds. An individual representing the 49ers contacted me and we collaborated to create a small trust. Though it may not be much, I am now a shareholder of Leeds.

You can catch The One Show on BBC One every weekday at 7pm.
