Borussia Dortmund achieved the incredible feat of being the first team to reach the final of the Champions League at Wembley. This was thanks to Mats Hummels, who scored a header in the second half, securing a 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain. As a result of this victory, they won the game on aggregate with a 2-0 score.

After taking the lead in the first leg in Germany, Dortmund exhibited an impressive defense to hinder Kylian Mbappe and his team. Following this, Hummels expertly headed Julian Brandt's corner into the net five minutes into the second half.

The goal was very important because PSG had bad luck with the post four times during the second half of the game. Warren Zaire-Emery, Nuno Mendes, Mbappe and Vitinha all hit the post. In total, PSG was denied six times by the woodwork in the two leg games.

PSG were not very efficient in converting their chances, with as many as 30 shots failing to result in a score. Goncalo Ramos missed a great opportunity to score, while the team playing at home did not receive a penalty thanks to referee Daniele Orsato, who changed his mind and awarded a free-kick instead, which was on the edge of the box.

Dortmund's outstanding performance, rather than Mbappe's wizardry, will be on display at the Champions League final in London on June 1st, where they will face either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

The starting lineup for PSG in their recent game was as follows: Donnarumma was at 6, Hakimi at 6, Marquinhos at 6, Beraldo at 5, and Mendes at 6. In midfield, Vitinha was at 6, Zaire-Emery at 5, and Ruiz at 6. Up front, Dembele was at 5, Ramos at 4, and Mbappe at 5.

Asensio got a rating of 5, while Barcola received a 6 and Lee also got a 5.

Dortmund's starting lineup for the match included Kobel as goalkeeper and a defensive line of Ryerson, Schlotterbeck, Hummels, and Maatsen. In midfield, Sabitzer, Can and Brandt played together, while Sancho, Fullkrug, and Adeyemi formed the forward line. The team put up a good performance throughout the game.

The players Reus, Sule, and Nmecha received a score of 6, 7, and 6, respectively.

Best player of the game: Mats Hummels from Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund And The Post Stopped PSG

Both teams were met with a loud and energetic environment filled with PSG's numerous banners, some of which included tearing up Dortmund's badge right before their players. The game kicked off with Mbappe having the initial opportunity to score but unfortunately missing his volley in the box. Ramos also missed multiple shots, with his first attempt sailing wide from the area's edge.

As the match progressed, Dortmund became increasingly more confident. There was a close call as Karim Adeyemi's attempt was redirected away from the goal, and then Julian Ryerson had a powerful shot that hit the side of the net. This occurred after Niclas Fullkrug made an excellent play in the box, controlling the ball after a long throw.

Within a brief timeframe, there were speedy opportunities to score on either side of the field. Hummels made an outstanding last-minute effort to prevent Mbappe from scoring an easy tap-in, while Adeyemi utilized his quickness during a breakaway and compelled Gianluigi Donnarumma to make an intelligent interception.

In the first half, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz from PSG attempted long shots, but it was apparent that Dortmund's defense was very strong as they swiftly blocked both shots. This made it difficult for PSG to score any goals.

In the opening minutes of the second period, the German team had a fortunate moment when Zaire-Emery hit the post from a short distance away. Shortly after, Dortmund increased their lead.

The goal scored by Hummels from Brandt's corner was simple but very important. Despite not being marked, Hummels reached the highest point and scored the goal. This made the task for PSG much harder as they had a big challenge to catch up.

The hosts demonstrated a strong reaction but did not utilize it efficiently. Ramos missed his shot from a close distance and Nuno Mendes hit the post with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) believed that they had an opportunity to score when the referee, Daniele Orsato, awarded a penalty kick after Mats Hummels brought down Ousmane Dembele. However, the referee quickly reversed his decision and awarded a free-kick on the edge of the penalty box instead. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) supported the revised decision.

Mbappe only got his second chance to score in the game but missed the goal by hitting the side of the net. He also attempted a close-range shot, but Kobel, the opposing team's goalkeeper, managed to save it by directing the ball onto the bar.

Vitinha added another close call to the record of shots that hit the goal posts and crossbar, with his powerful shot from distance ricocheting off the framework of the net. Sadly, things didn't go as planned for PSG tonight, however, Dortmund's season in the Champions League is still on track.

Terzic: Dream Is Still Alive!

According to TNT Sports, Edin Terzic, who is the manager of Borussia Dortmund, made a statement.

Feeling a sense of great satisfaction is what I would choose if I had to pick one word that describes how we feel. I have immense admiration for my employees and colleagues, as well as the organization. Our aspiration is still very much alive and ongoing!

Although we faced some challenges, we managed to deliver an impressive performance on our opponent's home ground. Their offense is incredibly strong, with great speed and agility, but our defense remained impenetrable and we did not allow any goals. Winning both matches in the semi-finals is truly remarkable and beyond expectation.

Gregor Kobel was the one leading the defence, followed by Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, Julian Ryerson and Ian Maatsen. The group of players in front of them put on a remarkable performance, without which keeping a clean sheet would have been impossible.

In the latter part of the game, the players exhibited intense passion and focused on preventing the opposing team from scoring any goals. They were determined to thwart any attempts at crosses or shots.

"Football's Unfairness: Enrique's Frustration"

During an interview with TNT Sports, Luis Enrique, the manager of PSG, shared his thoughts.

It was a tough night when the outcome turned out that way. The game was close, but in all honesty, we were the rightful winners.

We took 30 shots, with four hitting the post and in two games, we hit the post six times without scoring any goals. Football can be unjust at times.

Wow, I must say, they've worked tremendously well as a team. Hats off to them for their outstanding performance. I truly wish them the very best and pray that they emerge as winners in the final round.

Our goal is to produce something optimistic. Although the current moment is somber, we must acknowledge that this is just how the game works. Our objective is to devise something extraordinary for next year and strive to emerge victorious in the competition.

Dortmund's Dream Run Continues

Borussia Dortmund was not expected to advance to the final, and some even doubted they could make it out of the group stages.

In this season's competitions, Edin Terzic's team was matched up against PSG, AC Milan, and Newcastle. According to expectations, the team from the Bundesliga had the slimmest chance to progress to the next stage.

Once again, they have returned to Wembley for the Champions League final, a remarkable feat considering they were here just 11 years ago. However, this time it feels even more special. The last time, Dortmund was managed by Jurgen Klopp and had Robert Lewandowski as their star striker.

However, the Dortmund squad experienced a setback during this summer transfer window as Jude Bellingham left for Real Madrid. The group of players is rather unanticipated.

At the beginning of the current season, Manchester United left Jadon Sancho out in the cold. Meanwhile, Ian Maatsen had just finished loan stints with Burnley and Coventry.

Only a mere four years ago, Karim Adeyemi was a member of an Austrian football team located in the second division called Liefering. Similarly, Nico Schlotterbeck was at the youthful age of 20 and playing in the fourth division for Freiburg's junior team.

Upcoming for this group of unconventional individuals is Wembley Stadium, and you shouldn't disregard the possibility of them becoming champions.

PSG, who have already been awarded the Ligue 1 championship, will be heading out to face Toulouse, who is currently ranked 11th, on Sunday with a kickoff scheduled for 8 pm.

The upcoming Bundesliga match between Mainz and Borussia Dortmund will be broadcasted live on Sky Sports Football on Saturday at 5.30pm.
