Rageh Omaar is a seasoned British-Somali journalist who has carved a niche for himself in the field of broadcast journalism. He is renowned for his outstanding work in international journalism, having covered some of the most critical events of modern times. Born on 19 July 1967 in Mogadishu, Somalia, Omaar has built a reputation as a reliable and insightful reporter.
Omaar began his reporting career at the BBC in 1989, where he worked as a researcher and assistant producer before moving up the ranks to become a reporter. He is best known for his coverage of the Gulf War, as well as his reports on the genocide in Rwanda and the conflict in Afghanistan. Omaar's career has seen him work for some of the world's leading broadcasters, including Al Jazeera, ITV News, and PBS NewsHour.
