Earlier this month, Nigel verified that he will no longer be playing the role of Max in the coming year. He had already shot the last scenes of his character.

Max's kidney has failed and he needs a transplant to continue living. This is evident to the audience on the screen.

In an interview with Digital Spy at the Inside Soap Awards 2023, Nigel, who won the best drama star award, shared that Max is going through a challenging time with his health.

He refuses to acknowledge the truth - it seems he's been unfaithful - and his physical condition is causing significant problems. He's torn about whether or not to receive aid from Jodie, despite it being his reluctance to do so.

He is struggling internally about whether or not he should accept assistance from another individual, hence only time will tell what course of action he will take.

At the moment, Nigel is taking part in the latest installment of Strictly Come Dancing, and he is paired up with Katya Jones. Both of them were present on the red carpet.

Talking about his experience on Strictly, Nigel mentioned that things have started off great for him but there have been some challenges during rehearsals. Overall, it's been quite an intense experience.

Fortunately, I have Kat, who is an exceptional educator and an amazing individual. She guides me smoothly, and we end up achieving something on Saturday night.

We are currently working on a project that includes spinning, but unfortunately, I cannot disclose any further details. It contains a touch of enchantment, however, it has proven to be technically challenging so far. We are striving to make progress in the hopes that the magical aspect will come to fruition before Saturday night.

Katya expressed that the current state of things is a drastic change from the past few weeks, and that it is very thrilling.

Following the Inside Soap Awards, it has been officially announced that Nigel and Katya will incorporate spinning in their upcoming performance on Saturday night (September 30). They will be showcasing a Viennese waltz routine.
