Emmerdale exit for Marcus Dean as Darcy Grey leaves the show

Emmerdale's Marcus Dean is set to leave the village, following actor Darcy Grey's decision to exit the show.

According to The Sun, Darcy has chosen to quit the role around a year after making his debut. His character is unlikely to be killed off.

The news isn't too surprising after show bosses recently confirmed that Marcus and his boyfriend Ethan Anderson are set to have a surprise split.

Explaining the couple's decision to part ways in upcoming episodes, executive producer Jane Hudson revealed they would go through "quite a journey" together.

"We are going to see Ethan go through quite a journey with Marcus on screen, which will result in Ethan being young, free and single – and where will that lead us to?" she said.

"There is a lot in store for the Andersons this year."

Ethan and Marcus' relationship has been far from smooth over the past couple of months, with the pair recently dealing with the fallout of reporting Ethan's predatory boss Greg.

The end of the couple's relationship can already be seen playing out on-screen, with recent scenes seeing the couple forced to drop the harassment charge after a bust-up between Marcus, Naomi and Greg.

Darcy joined the soap back in January 2022 as the son of evil Pierce Harris.

His arrival in the village was initially difficult for Pierce's ex-wife Rhona Goskirk. However, he is ultimately welcomed into the village after she realises that he isn't like his abusive father.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
