Kyren Wilson, who was very emotional, won his first world title in a tense match of 18-14 against Jak Jones. The match took place at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

On Monday's final round, the athlete, aged 32, was ahead 15-10. Eventually, he got closer to winning at 17-11.

However, the Welsh competitor Jones found himself trailing 7-0 before making an impressive comeback and winning three frames in a row. As Wilson clinched his win, he became emotional and shouted out in excitement while shedding tears of joy.

"I apologize to Jak for my sudden emotional outburst. However, this opportunity means the world to me and my family. They have made significant sacrifices, such as remortgaging their home and dedicating their lives towards making my dreams come true," Wilson stated during his appearance on BBC Two.

I always had this moment in my dreams, and it felt amazing to finally have my family with me. We were able to express our emotions freely because it has been a tumultuous ride since I was six years old.

I have put forth all my efforts, maintained my composure, and withstood Jak's persistent resistance, making it an arduous task for me.

The English player entered the tournament without much hype due to a lackluster performance in previous games. Additionally, he had to face difficult personal problems outside of the competition.

Nonetheless, he demonstrated that he merited the £500,000 grand reward by delivering possibly the finest snooker performance of his lifetime throughout the 17-day occasion.

It also gave him a chance to redeem himself in what is considered the most important challenge in the sport, following his loss of 18-8 to Ronnie O'Sullivan in his one and only previous World Championship final back in 2020.

Jones, the soft-spoken Welshman, may not have had a storybook ending, but he has earned a lot of respect for his exceptional performance and remarkable composure throughout the tournament, despite being a long shot with odds of 200-1.

Jones, who was the ninth person to qualify for the Crucible tournament in 47 years, came very close to achieving the same feat as his fellow countrymen Terry Griffiths (in 1979) and Shaun Murphy (in 2005) by winning the championship.

"I can hardly believe how amazing this tournament has been for me. Just one month ago, I was so nervous during my first qualifying match. Nevertheless, it's been a lengthy month, and I'm content with the outcome," expressed the player.

I feel a sense of pride because I don't believe I performed exceptionally, but I managed to surpass some of the top players globally and reach the final round. Even though I came close to winning, this achievement has boosted my confidence.

In the upcoming rankings update, Jones will have a spot amongst the top players in the game. He has made an impressive climb from 44th to 14th in the world rankings due to his amazing journey to the final, where he had to compete in two qualification matches and play for 22 more hours than his opponent.

Wilson has been waiting for this moment for a long time. He first faced off against Jones back in 2011 during Q School.

Since that time, their career paths have taken different directions, as Jones has dropped out of the professional tour two times while Wilson has accomplished winning six ranking events.

Although he had previously participated in each of the Triple Crown events, he has been unsuccessful in winning any of them. He was defeated by Mark Allen in the final of the 2018 Masters and made the decision to improve his game after losing against O'Sullivan four years prior.

Wilson has made a significant leap, climbing up by nine places in the world rankings, concluding the season in third place. However, Allen has taken over the top spot, while Judd Trump remains in second place.

Wilson expressed his aspiration to achieve multiple world champion titles and stated that it would be unsatisfactory for him to attain only one.

"The initial task is undeniably the most challenging one. Nonetheless, I have successfully completed it and no one can diminish my accomplishment."

"During the Snooker World Championships, Kyren Wilson expressed his desire to become his kids' new hero by winning the tournament. He mentioned how his kids look up to Ronaldo, but he wants them to start admiring him instead. Wilson is determined to give his best shot and emerge as the winner of the Snooker Championships, which will make his kids proud and happy. He aspires to become a role model for his children and inspire them to pursue their dreams in the future."

After achieving a strong lead of 7-0 on the first day, which hasn't been seen since John Parrott's game against Jimmy White in 1991, the player has maintained their lead without much difficulty.

He has been fortunate in accumulating crucial frames throughout the game. Instead of being tied 10-7 on Sunday evening, he managed to stay ahead at 11-6, thanks to winning the 14th frame in a thrilling black showdown. He continued his winning streak, taking the 25th frame on Monday afternoon. All in all, he has shown a great talent for securing crucial points throughout the match.

If it wasn't for certain circumstances, along with an unlikely stroke of luck when Jones made a respotted black in the 28th frame, the final result could have been completely altered.

The man who participated in his debut ranking final suddenly appeared more confident as Wilson's high-scoring performance - he hit four centuries and eight half-centuries throughout the match - came to a halt.

Jones made an impressive comeback where he almost scored the highest possible break of 147 after successfully potting the first 12 reds and blacks. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish strong and only scored 96 in the 30th frame.

Despite facing pressure, Wilson remained composed and accomplished his childhood aspiration by making a game-deciding break of 42.
