Real Madrid Icon Casemiro: ‘Ancelotti Cried And Didn’t Want Me To Leave’

Casemiro, a renowned figure in Real Madrid's history, shared some insight into his departure from the team in an interview on El Chiringuito. He disclosed that the coach at the time, Carlo Ancelotti, was saddened by his decision to leave and even shed tears over it.

Former Real Madrid star Casemiro discussed his departure from the La Liga team during an appearance on El Chiringuito. He shared that his departure caused manager Carlo Ancelotti to become emotional and tearful, as he did not want Casemiro to leave the team.

The player from Brazil was unexpectedly transferred to Manchester United shortly after achieving their fifth victory in the Champions League together with the Italian team in 2022.

On Thursday night, he appeared on Spanish television and talked about the time when he said farewell to the club where he played for eight years.

I had achieved every victory possible. Although I still had the desire to keep striving forward, I craved something new. Despite facing resistance, I was determined to broaden my skillset by picking up a foreign language and exploring different leagues to play in. I must compliment United for their impeccable conduct since the start of our engagement, though.

After winning the Champions League, I made the tough call to depart from Madrid. I recognized that my time there had come to a close. Given my age, it felt right to pursue further growth elsewhere. Despite being well-liked, the decision was a challenging one.

Casemiro admitted that he had second thoughts about leaving the sunny streets of the Spanish capital for the wet and gloomy environment of northwestern England, but it was only for a brief moment.

On Friday, all of my tasks were completed, but I neglected to train. The one final step that needed to be taken was for me to sign.

When I met with Ancelotti, he was aware that I intended to depart. As I walked into his workspace, he pivoted towards me and tears were streaming down his face. Carlo expressed that he didn't desire me to exit, disclosing his deep affection towards me.

Casemiro experienced affection that nearly altered his decision. However, he had already made a commitment to join United and felt it was his top priority.

As he watched the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal this week, Casemiro, a loyal Madrid supporter, felt a great deal of stress. Despite the challenging 4-4 overall score and additional period of play, Los Blancos persevered and managed to knock Manchester City, their cross-town rivals, out of the tournament via penalty kicks.

Certainly Madrid made it through, but I was anxious throughout their match. I was aware that City had excellent players alongside a remarkable coach who has a clear vision for their playing style. Madrid played defensively and focused on protecting their goal. I am delighted to hear my former teammates succeeded.

Casemiro stated that it is challenging to describe Real Madrid's DNA.

The Champions League is where our team really shines. Our innate nature is to triumph. People often wonder why, despite winning La Liga, we haven't won the Champions League. But that's the kind of scrutiny you have to accept when you play for Madrid. The high expectations may seem daunting, but it's what propels us to keep striving forward every single day.
