Andy Murray

Andy Murray, representing Britain, secured a vital victory in the Miami Open's challenging first round match by defeating Matteo Berrettini, who previously made it to the Wimbledon finals. Berrettini struggled in the second set and was almost on the verge of passing out.

At 36 years old, Murray made a comeback and won the match 4-6 6-3 6-4. Berrettini from Italy showed signs of being dizzy and having difficulty.

Murray, who has intentions of retiring in the latter part of this year, just managed to secure his fourth victory out of a total of eleven matches that he has played during this season.

After achieving victory, he inscribed "there's still life in the old dog" on a camera lens.

Andy Murray, who is the fourth-ranked tennis player from Britain and currently holds the 62nd position in the world rankings, will compete against Argentina's 29th seed, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, in his upcoming match. This will be a rematch between the two, as Etcheverry had previously defeated Murray in a low-key match during the first round of the Australian Open earlier in the year.

British player Jack Draper, who is 22 years old, has also made it to the second round of the Miami tournament in a convincing manner by beating Japan's Taro Daniel.

The second best player in Britain triumphed with a score of 6-3 and 6-2, earning a chance to face Chile's 22nd seeded Nicolas Jarry in the next round.

Murray left a message on the TV camera after winning, like many winners do. The message showed that he was happy to continue playing in Miami, even though it may be the last time he participates as the reigning champion.

The ex-top ranked player, who will be 37 years old in May, recently stated that he does not intend to continue playing tennis beyond the summer when asked about his retirement.

Murray has been honest about the difficulties he has faced lately. He seemed to be on his way to losing against Berrettini, a former top six player who was making his comeback after almost seven months away from the ATP Tour.

Berrettini, who has been facing a series of injuries that have halted his career, proved that his powerful service game is still intact. He managed to successfully deliver 78% of his hefty first serves in an outstanding first set.

Murray, who has won three significant tournaments, is not known to easily give up. He performed much better during the second set and managed to completely reverse the course of the game.

By being more assertive in his approach and minimizing his mistakes, the Scottish player was able to earn his third break point of the match and secure a 4-2 advantage.

Next, there was a moment of high drama and worry when Berrettini had to serve to avoid losing the set at 5-2. However, he appeared unsteady while getting into position to begin his serve.

The individual who is 27 years old had to receive medical attention from a physician because they felt dizzy and could not continue playing. Additionally, they took a lengthy break from the court before the last set.

Despite Berrettini appearing uneasy, Murray sustained his fervor and managed to breakthrough in the opening game after three attempts, which lasted approximately 12 minutes. This victory proved to be crucial for him.

Despite the circumstances, he celebrated humbly and respectfully. Upon shaking hands with Berrettini at the net, his first action was to inquire about how he was feeling.

As Murray approaches the conclusion of his profession, Draper is merely starting - and the indications are becoming more and more positive.

He has set his sights on claiming the British number one ranking, a position previously held by Murray for a significant period. He is currently chasing after Cameron Norrie who currently holds that title.

There has always been no question about Draper's skills, especially his strong serve and dynamic forehand. However, there has been a constant worry about his ability to endure both physically and mentally.

The Miami Open is famous for its challenging and muggy weather. However, Draper had no trouble playing confidently against Daniel, as he had earlier gone to Florida to adjust to the climate after being knocked out early at Indian Wells in California.

Draper successfully utilized his most powerful tactics, producing 10 aces throughout the match. He managed to secure an impressive 97% of his first-serve points and only lost eight points while serving.

He managed to break Daniel's serve three times and kept the rallies brief to secure the win in just over an hour.

Draper is now focusing on Jarry, who got a pass in the first round. Draper wants to progress in the ATP Masters 1000 event and boost his ranking past his previous personal best of number 37 in the world.
