Murray experienced some unease when he was leading 3-0 in the first set, as he requested that the trainer inspect his knee. However, after taking a break to receive medical attention, he was able to overcome the injury and claim the remaining games of the set, ultimately winning it 6-1.

The following set was a very tight competition. Both competitors successfully maintained their serve, but Murray gained the first advantage by breaking Muller's serve, resulting in a score of 4-3. However, he made several unforced errors and gave the next game to Muller.
