Andy Murray claims best win of year against Etcheverry at Miami Open

At the Miami Open, Andy Murray achieved a praiseworthy victory by defeating Tomás Martín Etcheverry in two sets. It was his best triumph of the year up until now.

Murray easily beat the 30th-ranked Argentinian in a tennis match that was briefly paused due to rain. He won 7-6 (0), 6-3 and advanced to the third round. This victory also allowed Murray to get back at the same player who defeated him in the first round of the Australian Open earlier this year. Murray is 36 years old.

Murray is scheduled to compete against Tomas Machac, a young player from the Czech Republic who was able to defeat Andrey Rublev, the 6th ranked player in the world from Russia, in the previous round.

Nicolás Jarry put an end to Jack Draper's attempt, beating the 22-year-old player in a competitive match that lasted three sets. As a result of Jarry's expert gameplay, the world No 23 from Chile won 7-6 (5), 4-6, 7-6 (2).

American tennis fans were having a sad day as three of the top four highest-ranked male players from the US were eliminated, with the loss of Taylor Fritz, who was seeded twelfth, being the largest upset.

Fritz was not alone in leaving the competition as both Tommy Paul, the 13th seed, and Frances Tiafoe, the 21st-seeded player, were also eliminated. This leaves Ben Shelton as the most highly-ranked US player remaining in the tournament.

In a surprising turn of events, Denis Shapovalov defeated the 10th seed player Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-2, 6-4. The Canadian was leading 2-1 when the match was paused on Friday. Shapovalov put Tsitsipas under continuous pressure throughout the contest and created 18 chances to break his opponent's serve, converting three of them. Meanwhile, Tsitsipas was unable to secure a single break opportunity throughout the match.
